My “Why”: Giving Back at Alliance Data
“Be kind and pay it forward.” This sentiment is a core value and a cornerstone of our company. When I came to Alliance Data, I knew I was walking into a culture that cared - about its associates, its partners, its customers and its communities. The ongoing, strategic investments we make in the community are guided by a principled commitment to areas that promote wellbeing and independence.
Last week, Alliance Data completed its annual Giving Campaign. Over the course of several weeks, associates were empowered to donate to the causes they cared about the most. The Company matched donations made during the Giving Campaign dollar for dollar, and I am pleased to announce $1.8 million was donated in total this year. From the United Way of Central Ohio to Ruling Our Experiences (ROX) and the Ronald McDonald House Cincinnati, associates gave to nearly 1,000 organizations that matter most to them. ?
To see our associates generously come together during what has been the most challenging time in recent memory makes me extremely proud. The importance of giving back is something that I have held on to my entire life – passing it on to my daughters, colleagues and friends - and it matters to me that Alliance Data and its associates always prioritize generosity, kindness and helping those in need.

During the Giving Campaign, we also asked associates to share their “why,” a simple word with big meaning. “Why I give” is my family. I am a lucky man, and I do not take my privilege for granted. Each day, I strive to be better and take actions that make a positive impact so that those I love have a better world to live in.
In honor of my family, I gave to the organizations that matter most to me – those that support children and hunger, including Nationwide Children’s Hospital where I sit on the board of trustees. Giving back makes our communities better and all of us stronger and I challenge you to share your “why” and find ways to support the things that matter most to you.
