My WhatsApp Status

Dear WhatsApp,

After flipping through thousands of quotes on Google and finally copy pasting it as WhatsApp status is a history now. The one liners which stated our current emotions and the best two lines from our favorite songs, may their soul rest in peace.

In our country, we have the concept of waking up early. My grandparents used to wake up before sunrise to enjoy the chirping of birds, breathe fresh air and gaze at the giant orange sun.

And yes, even today we do wake up early to make sure that our status is updated before everyone wakes up.

The aim now is to become WhatsApp certified storyteller.

Now thanks to your new feature, I have memorized all the photos shared by our friends by heart. After checking them on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and finally as WhatsApp status, I don’t need to call and ask how was their day and what all they did. I have stopped asking for their plans coz anyway it will be broadcast soon.

If they do a rapid fire round on their most used photo filter or their favorite pout angle, I bet I will win.

Everything out there is almost fleeting.

Not just that, my life has become open book now. You can check where I sit in my office, how many times I go pee and take selfie in washroom mirror, what I had for breakfast lunch and dinner and my mood every two hours. So much of data out there to write a 989 page biography on me.

You might be aware of the pain in my hands which I get once a while after holding the phone for hours just to flip through my friends’ photos and status. To tell you the truth, I pray I don’t get cancer in my hand someday.

Andy Warhol said in 1968, “In future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes”.

And I sincerely appreciate the effort you made to make me famous in 15 minutes :)
