Free Fall

I have experienced this couple of times , noticed usually during power failure or switch from main to backup power and fortunately the braking system got restored via its inbuilt backup power. Luckily just had 2 to 3 levels of free fall experience and had to hold my heart :)

• Cause: Failure of the elevator's braking system or cable snapping.
• Effect: This can lead to catastrophic injuries or fatalities if the elevator descends rapidly without control.

• Tentative Solution - Try implementing "Airbags" in the Lift or Elevator

Do you know any well-known lift and elevator companies worldwide incase they tried experimenting with "Airbags" to avoid any injuries to the passengers inside the Lift ??
