My way

My way

If you chose the painter’s way, you have pretty much assigned yourself to a Rocky 4 song “There’s no easy way out”. Rightfully so, it’s a special route and is nothing like a regular life in the office.

As a grown-up artist, sometimes I think I wanted to start drawing since being a womb dweller. But seriously, after I became a real-world geometrical object, I can’t think of a moment when I didn’t want to draw. So it’s a safe bet this has been an essential part of my life since day one!

Although I dedicated six years of my life to fusing, stained-glass windows, not to mention clay art and etching, I have always put the most focus on painting. I haven’t met a good painter who didn’t have an arsenal of other skills, it’s like a nice little tip on how to spot a solid artist.

Teacher

First off, I would like to debunk a common myth that talent means everything. Even the greatest people of mankind had teachers — if we come up with someone like Leonardo da Vinci, even he had Verrocchio as a raw model to follow.

Speaking of me, I was lucky to have marvelous people as my teachers, but the one who stood the most out was Jakob Frumgartz. When I was six, my father led me to his school and it was a blast from the beginning.

Like every little kid, I believed I was the smartest and the most talented person around. But he showed me that the hard work is 99% of the result and there’s only 1% of the talent you could rely on. As an architect, my father knew the right person to raise my individual and drawing skills, and I can’t thank him enough for that.

Like in other areas, it turned out that the hard work and the ability to listen and absorb information are the main driving forces. Who could’ve thought, right?

Other painters

Although I was born in the mountain area things like beautiful landscapes impacted my life — seeing other artists’ paintings has always been the main shocker. Salvador Dalí liked to say that first, you should learn how the elder artists made their paintings, and then move on with your own things. And he couldn’t be more right. I seriously struggle to name you a bunch of my favorite painters, because it feels like I have watched all the paintings in the world, so let’s put Dalí be the no.1.

I am also impressed by contemporary art and can’t stay away from exploring it. Despite being more of a classical painter who pursues cultural motives, I believe that both classical and contemporary painting genres go hand in hand and fill each other. It’s nothing but my honor to witness the clash of these cultures and reap the best of it!

Books

Speaking of inspiration, books left a monumental trace in my life and developed me as a person. As this idea breezes past the whole article, reading everything is the way to go. My favorite technique is to read several books at the same time — it creates a whirlpool of ideas like a palette in your head, and you can digest the most vivid ideas and express them on a canvas.

And it surely helps if you read completely different genres: historical, scientific books or even poetry. I remember reading The Art of War, The Dreaming Universe, and Jami’s verses at the same time. You probably can’t think of a bigger mix of ideas, but believe it or not, it leaves a strong impression on your soul that can express something unexpected and beautiful.

Conclusion

To sum things up, I would say that to describe a painter’s way in a single word, it would be “exploration”. I can’t think of a better term for a constant journey inside my soul — always seeking newer experiences is what keeps me moving forward to create beautiful paintings that bring positive energy and emotions to the viewers.
