It Is My Way Or The Highway (Part 2)
I discovered two critical insights into myself and life from my last post on life coaching vs. Therapy:
Firstly, how many other situations in my life do I go in having already made up my mind without giving the person or idea a chance?
I found this troublesome and encouraging at the same time.
On the one hand, having this unconscious bias going into situations is something that I'm going to have to be more aware of in order for me to stay honest with myself.
Conversely, the fact I was able to overcome it in this scenario reflects an openness despite the unsubstantiated prejudice.
Another thought that I had is how the road to being real with yourself is unending and needs constant monitoring and growth to stay healthy.
I've considered myself an impartial actor in my own life.
Realizing that there can be such a chasm in such a significant amount of my own interactions makes me comprehend the depth of the human challenge of maintaining objectivity.
Please let me know any advice or insight that I can benefit from regarding this. Where else do you see objectivity been jeopardized in other areas of life?
