My Vision For Cybersecurity

During the past 8 weeks, I've been inundated with DMs and emails asking what have I been up to... So here goes:

My vision is to make cybersecurity work for everyone. With my amazing new team, we are creating a highly scalable security service that we aim to bring to 100,000 businesses in less than 24 months.

For many, managing cybersecurity and risk doesn't stop with your personal cyber threats. The people I talk to - entrepreneurs, sole traders, freelancers, small business owners, and even executives of large global corps - all say the same thing. "We need a cybersecurity service that solves our problems and lets us achieve what we want to accomplish in a simple, non-technical way."

So during the last 3 months, I have been exploring how we can offer, and bring to market, a disruptive service that meets the needs of the market and can scale.

Customers have been asking for it!

Through my years of events, keynotes, customer meetings, and community forums, lots of customers have been asking for a new approach to cybersecurity. It seems there are things they're not getting from their existing cybersecurity vendors and lots of ways the cybersecurity industry can improve. By listening to their problems, I want to build something that solves this.

In my research, I've been told repeatedly from around the world, that the current catalogue of cybersecurity offerings don't meet customers' needs. The existing solutions are often riddled with technical details, have confusing licencing fees, can be challenging to deploy and use, and don't come with features that make running your business easier.

Let's change the market!!

There are more than five million small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in the UK. And almost nine million people either run their own small business or work for one.

That means there's a big opportunity to bring a new approach to even more people, and help them manage their cybersecurity better, more simply, and more quickly. Because the SME market is so big, it's also an excellent opportunity for us to bring the cost of global enterprise security solutions in reach of all businesses. And create the world's first sustainable business cybersecurity company.

Getting started

I've created a small, super-talented team to build a highly scalable platform that will serve the whole spectrum of customers. But not at the expense of improving how a cybersecurity solution should be consumed or cost. So during the past 6-weeks, the team has been coding, and I've been busy starting funding rounds and meeting potential customers. The core focus is building a platform and getting the MVP (minimum viable product) into the hands of customers as quickly as possible to allow us to fail quickly.

So what? And what's next?

Right now, the team and I are working on creating an MVP service, which involves defining and delivering value that customers would happily pay for. In turn, using the MVP service, we'll grow the client base quickly to see if we can shortcut the need to raise seed monies. And at the same time continue to make cybersecurity simple and easy for all. 

Providing the next couple of weeks goes to plan, I hope to make a small announcement by way of my next startup. :-)
