Activating the next generation of global leaders.
My name is Anujin Myagmarchuluun, and I'm from Mongolia. The moment I stepped into high school, my passion for political science and the vast array of related disciplines had been burning brightly. I was drawn to the complexities and depth of the subject, realizing that political science could not be confined to a single discipline, as it encompassed many intriguing topics. Determined to immerse myself further in this captivating field, I tirelessly sought opportunities to expand my knowledge beyond the confines of the classroom.
That is when fate introduced me to an extraordinary program that would change my life forever: the "Yale Young Global Scholars" (YYGS). An intensive academic and enrichment program designed for intellectually curious high school students worldwide, YYGS offered me the chance to explore my passion while experiencing the vibrant atmosphere of residential college life on the prestigious Yale campus. As I delved deeper into researching YYGS, every aspect of the program resonated with my thirst for knowledge and adventure, making it an opportunity too precious to overlook.
Despite my genuine interest in politics, I could not shake off the overwhelming doubts that clouded my mind as I considered applying. Neither being an internationally recognized high achiever nor seeing many participants from my country in the program made me question whether I stood a chance. Yet, deep down, I knew I had to give it my all and try. To bolster my chances, I decided to reach out to YYGS alumni for advice on the application process and their experiences. Through some determined searching on social media, I managed to connect with a few alumni who graciously shared their insights, providing invaluable guidance and encouragement.
One of the most remarkable encounters during this quest was with an alumnus from the Francis Koroma Foundation (FKF). After exchanging messages, this supportive individual offered to have a Zoom call to discuss my inquiries in detail.
I was genuinely touched by the kindness and willingness to help. During the call, the alumnus shared sparkling anecdotes from their own YYGS experience and offered exclusive insights into the program's intricacies. Their unwavering support and encouragement infused me with a newfound inspiration to put my best foot forward in the application process.
Buoyed by the alumnus's guidance and the unwavering support of the FKF, I worked tirelessly on my application and, on November 1, 2022, submitted it with a glimmer of hope. To my delight and gratitude, I received an acceptance letter, which filled my heart with immense joy and appreciation for all those who supported me throughout this meaningful journey.
Fast forward to the moment, I set foot on the Yale campus for the "Politics, Law, and Economics" academic track; my excitement was palpable. Meeting students from diverse backgrounds, united by their passion for learning, was an experience. Engaging in thought-provoking discussions and seminars led by world-renowned professors broadened my perspective, and honed my curiosity. The capstone project, focused on the disparities in public school funding, allowed us to delve into real-life problems and propose solutions—an eye-opening and empowering experience.?

Yet, amidst the academics, it was the concept of "families" that truly left an indelible mark on my heart. Throughout the program, each student was assigned to a family, and from the very first meeting, we bonded and became a tight-knit unit.
