Killed Twice and Counting is the tale of Tim Crater, retired Marine sniper who takes on the Mexican drug cartel using Hartford as its northeastern distribution center. When he snoops too close, he's t-boned by a pickup that sends him to the hospital and leads his memory in the twisted wreckage. What follows is a cat and mouse game that pits Tim, his friends and associates against the wily and determined cartel.
Skinner is jailhouse slang for men who are convicted of child sexual abuse. They're looked down on by the prison's general population, and are sometimes found dead in their cells by mysterious circumstances. The novel involves Jim Booker, a physician assistant who takes a position at a Maine substance abuse treatment facility after leaving work at a New Jersey emergency room. Prior to leaving, Jim saves a young man's life, and the father makes a solemn promise to him to do anything to help him. He quickly discovers that many of the women, and numerous men in the program are victims of sexual abuse. He decides to see how far the promise might go. His request sets off a chain of events that threaten to send Jim and his girl friend to prison.
