My travel experience on the Abuja Train to Kaduna.

I went on an official assignment from Lagos to Abuja, then from Abuja to Kaduna, and back to Lagos.

My journey from Lagos, well understood, I knew I would go by flight, and from Abuja to Kaduna by the newly commissioned Train station. Now, here lies the problem, The Train in Nigeria! I was curious. Does it work in Nigeria? In my subconscious, I was already discouraged because I have heard a lot of bad things about how the Train in Nigeria is sham, it's locomotive, not a good project. And all sort disdain comments from my fellow Nigerians.

Contrary to what I have heard, I was amazed!! by the level of train infrastructure in Abuja. From the arrival hall to the departure, better than most of the airport here in Nigeria. You need to witness it to understand what I'm talking about.

Mind you, and I'm not saying we are there yet, such level of development should be appreciated and applauded. Development is a continuum. If we can maintain it at this level and then continue to scale, for sure,we" ll get there.

Going from Abuja to Kaduna, on a good day by road, will take 2 hrs 30min if the road is fare and you drive 120km/h. Now, the same journey will take you 1hr plus. Wow! This is great.

We need to change the narrative. write our own story, say, and sell good news about the development in Nigeria.

Back to my train experience, I saw many well behaved Nigerians. They Respected the processes by queening up for tickets. The inside Train was neat. There was no littering of the environment with dirty.

Maintenance is a significant problem we have in Nigeria. Now when I say maintenance, I'm not only referring to Government in this case. We, the individuals (Nigerians ), should be responsible. Behave appropriately. Follow processes and ensure we do not mess up such development. 

If you are responsible for cleaning, do it well, because it is what you love to do. Bills collectors and ticket sellers, respect the customers, and don't look for a way to sabotage the process and steal funds. 

To the Government, Job well done thus far, Please, extend such a level of development to other parts of Nigeria. I'm aware it's the plan, let not over politicize it. Sustain the level of development and then scale it to meet global standards.
