All it takes is a decision and game plan to achieve what you want!! It was the month of April last year. I had changed my job recently and was mostly working from home. This meant that I could that nibble anything at home anytime. I had entered my mid-thirties and had always wanted to lose weight as I was about 10 kgs overweight for some time. I did make some attempts half-heartedly previously and lost some weight but quickly gained it back due to erratic eating and sleeping habits. This time I made up my mind to lose weight and approached the #wellnessquotient community. Wellness coach asked me to start on a weight management program that will help me shed the extra weight and not gain it back. I was also asked to work out for 30 mins regularly with 10 mins of cardio. I was also asked to go for a brisk walk whenever possible. I started following the program along with some changes to my diet for the first 15 days. I made sure that I did not cross 1000 calories of food consumption by cutting down on content and improving the quality of my diet. I stopped consuming sugar in any form and stayed away from fried food. I also increased my protein diet along with Multi-vitamin, omega 3, Vitamin C from natural sources. At the end of 15 days, I had lost about 2 to 3 kgs. This was not very encouraging but I continued the weight management program religiously with my strict diet. Post the 15 days, I was asked to make some modifications to the weight management program and make sure my daily consumption of calories do not cross 1500 kcal by the wellness coach. At the end of 2 months, I had lost about 6 kgs. This encouraged me quite a bit and I continued with my schedule. I was consciously making sure that if I had to eat out due to unavoidable circumstances, I still ate healthy by sticking to salads and avoiding fried food and sweets if possible. It was the month of July and I remember standing on weight scale trying to frantically check what my weight was. Those few seconds seemed like an eon and for the first time in many years, my weight had dropped below 80 kgs. I was really excited and felt really proud of myself. I met the wellness coach for a health assessment. The trainer did her routine checks and said most of the good work is done and I just need to lose a couple of kgs more for my height. I came back more determined and decided to maintain my weight. I was asked to be regular on nutritional supplements with a high protein diet. I also continued with my strict diet of almost no sugar and fried food. I still eat sweets but only once in a while and make sure I work out enough to shed the extra calories. I had run a half marathon in 2015 and had a goal to do a full marathon the following year which I could never accomplish. This time I felt I was in perfect shape to do it. I continued with my 30 mins of exercising on a daily basis and brisk walks. I finally was able to do a full marathon in October. It was obviously nowhere near-record time which would be a goal for this year but one of the things struck off my bucket list. But the best part is my weight is still below 80kgs which is almost ideal for my height and my goal is next 2 months is to shed another 5 kgs as suggested by wellness coach and maintain the weight. Big thanks to the #wellnessquotient community for guiding me all through in the entire process of losing weight in an organic and healthy fashion. #wqcommunity #wellnessquotient #successmindset #covid19 #weightmanagement #dailydiscipline #weightloss #fullmarathon
