my top 5 videos shared on LinkedIn during 2022

I've been regularly sharing ideas online since 2008 when I first began blogging at www.conorneill.com, and then since 2012 I've been sharing weekly videos. It has been a wonderful experience as I receive so much input, inspiration and thoughtful responses and comments from people all over the world.

Here are my top 5 video posts shared on Linkedin during 2022:

#1, Are you overwhelmed with problems? - 65,000 views

A story from a monk about a big rock in the middle of a field. "Is that rock heavy?" he asks his disciples...

#2, What is freedom? "freedom is not an empty calendar", 58,000 views

I spent many years aiming at an empty calendar. I thought that an empty calendar, the freedom to do whatever I wanted each day, was freedom. It is not. When I don't plan my days, I don't use them well. An empty calendar is a dangerous thing.

#3 "No one is coming to save us" - 55,000 views

I share a story from 1972, when an aircraft carrying a young rugby team from Uruguay crashed into the mountains. One of the survivors, Nando Parrado, is the single best speaker I have ever experienced.

#4 Set Goals for Direction, not Destination - 38,000 views

Action solves a lot of problems. I share a story about sharks... a shark's breathing apparatus, it's gills, only work when the shark is moving through the water. If the shark stops moving... it stops breathing. There's a similarity in our own lives - great opportunity never comes to the stationary human...

#5 You only need to be productive for 7 minutes a day - 32,500 views

You don't need to be productive 24 hours a day... in my own case, I only really need to be productive for 7 minutes a week to build my youtube channel and linkedin "influencer" status ;-)

What's on your mind for 2023?

I'm reviewing my evernote files for video ideas for the coming year. Some of the themes that I am working on:

  • The 2 types of boredom: superficial boredom and profound boredom (Heidegger). Profound boredom is important - it is the driver of change of self.
  • Employee mindset vs Business owner mindset. What results do you get for people?
  • You don't need a mentor: you need a few good books and a good friend
  • "Risk is an essential need of the soul" Simone Weil
  • If you see an amazing performance, start paying attention to how they do it. Look for the ingredients.
  • Atelic vs Telic goals.
  • You can't be distracted if you have no plan. Any plan is better than none at all.
