My Top 5 Tips for Your First LinkedIn Video (Part 2)
This article is long over due but better late then never right?
This article is a continuation of my earlier article posted here.
Here are my final two tips when crafting video content on Linkedin:
4) BUILD COMMUNITY
The great thing about Linkedin is that it is an open platform, meaning that if someone in your network comments on your post, that comment may come up as a notification in the feed of someone that is in their network that is not connected to you - this new person can then click through and see your content. You have the ability to connect and build community with people you would ordinarily not come in contact with in real life.
So how do you build community with content creation? Comment on other people's videos, get a dialogue going and then you can tag them in your videos to get their view on certain topics that would be of interest to them (don't just tag people for the sake of trying to get views or likes... again think about how you can add value to others).
5) BE YOURSELF
This is such a key point for me. As one of the key "WHY"s of my Linkedin content creation journey was about building my personal brand, the content I put out there could not be something too polished because honestly, I didn't have that much time. I would generally just posted from my iPhone - usually it was after work, before a gym session or out in my backyard.
A quote I heard recently was "People buy People" and I think it's generally true, especially in small business. Your clients want to know the person behind the brand, they want to know they can trust you with their time and their resources. They want to know that you are a real person and not just someone who is sitting in an office somewhere, just all about wanting to take their money. Share the ups and the downs. Don't let perfectionism get in the way of being unapologetically you. Unlock your creativity and show up as just you! And you'll be surprised because authenticity actually is currency that is of high value here on this platform.
So, I hope that was helpful and I'm looking forward to seeing more of YOUR content here on Linkedin. Feel free to tag me in them and I'll be sure to watch them and cheer you on!

5 年Thank you. It is certainly very difficult to get started. I did a couple of videos then stopped. Life brings on a lot of things that are emotionally draining and that holds me back. I am still not feeling ready.
I’ve been working on posting a video clip of my progress and then perfectionism or suffocation takes the air out of my lungs and everything collapses. One cannot survive in a vacuum. Thanks for the positive message .
