Today I am writing about my top 5 reasons why projects fail:
1) Unclear scope of the project
Project scope is a way to set boundaries on your project and define exactly what goals, deadlines, and project deliverables you'll be working towards. Scope creep could bring a lot of chaos into project and team management.
2) Unhappy Stakeholders
Engaged stakeholders offer support and insights to drive your projects toward success, but disengaged stakeholders may become barriers to success. Without buy-in and support from stakeholders, a project can struggle to gain momentum and resources.
3) Risk management
Poor risk management can result in a delay in the project schedule, poor user adoption, late-running projects, overspent budgets, and project failure. Identifying risks, measuring their impact and ensuring risk governance framework is key.
4) Disengaged sponsorship
The most commonly cited reason for this is the lack of time and dedicated resources. Be ready to anticipate your sponsors’ needs to alleviate the pressure, "prep it" for them. A careful coordination in advance is all you need to make the most of sponsors’ limited time.
5) Communication gap
Clear and consistent communication helps prevent misunderstandings, reduces conflicts, and enhances overall project efficiency. Good communication is also crucial to building credibility towards stakeholders.
