My Top 5 New Features of Dynamics 365 - Part 3 - Virtual Entities

I'm continuing my write up about some of my favorite the Dynamics 365 v.9.0 Release. The first post is was about the unified interface. The second post was about Embedded Flows.

The next feature is something I have been excited about for a long time, waiting to share with you all. Virtual Entities lets you bring in data into Dynamics 365 without having to duplicate it. Some example of taking advantage of this would be - bringing in read only data from your ERPs into Dynamics to help with the 360 view of the customer.

  • Native Out of the Box Dynamics experience for External Data
  • Data is not stored in Dynamics - so no duplication
  • Data can be exported to Excel or be referenced in any reporting
  • Read - Only scenarios are supported in the current release
  • This features is intended for system customizers and developers.

Jesper has a great walk-through of this feature here
