My Top 10 Airport Tips

My Top 10 Airport Tips

In 4 years I've traveled to 75 cities in the US, Canada, China, Southeast Asia, United Kingdom, Italy, France, Netherlands and Spain.

Here are my top 10 airport tips:

  1. BRING AN EMPTY WATER BOTTLE - You can use fill it up at the water fountain at the airport and save yourself $5.
  2. EARPLUGS AND A BLINDFOLD WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE - And by save your life I mean get you a good nights sleep. I just had two international flights and both times I was seated near a crying baby. Didn't matter. I had headphones. Boo-yah!
  3. THE BEST SEAT IS IN THE AISLE - You don't have to hop over anyone to use the restroom and you can stretch out your legs in the aisle to get a good sleep. Yes, you might get clobbered a few times during meal and drink service, but it's SO worth it.
  4. THE EARLY BIRD GETS RELIEVED OF HAVING TO EXPERIENCE THE STRESSFUL MOMENT WHERE YOU RUN THROUGH THE AIRPORT TO TRY TO MAKE YOUR FLIGHT - Oh wait, the title already explains this point. Moving on. (If you want me to break it down further for you, just arrive at least 2 hours before your flight to avoid stress. You never know how long the security line will take).
  5. DOUBLE CHECK THAT YOU HAVE YOUR TRAVEL DOCUMENTS -Yeah, because I forgot once. It cost me a small fortune to get new tickets. Use a Checklist app to keep yourself on top of things.
  6. MAKE NEW FRIENDS - When you travel, be open to the idea of talking to the people sitting next to you. You never know who you're going to meet. Last time I did that, I met a celebrity (she will remain unnamed) and a CEO. Pretty cool considering all I did was say hello.
  7. FIGHT THE TURBULENCE WITH YOUR TUSH - You probably think I'm crazy. I'm not. I've tried this. The next time you hit turbulence, wiggle your tush and you'll feel less of the turbulence effect. Some call it science. I call it magic.
  8. CALL YOUR FRIENDS - If they live in the state or country you're visiting, make sure you connect with them. Life's too short to neglect your loved ones. Make some unforgettable memories when you're out there.
  9. SWEATS ARE THE NEW BLANKET - Buy the most awesome, comfortable and cozy sweats you can find. Think of it as a portable blanket.
  10. KEEP IT SIMPLE AND PACK LESS - I can easily fit enough clothes for two weeks in a carry on. Ask yourself - do you really need to bring five pairs of shoes?

Aisle for long flights maybe. Red eyes and shorter flight, I?m snagging the window for sure. It's all about the extra shoulder room. Water bottle is a game changer

Also google "how to pack a carry-on", as well as there are videos on how to pack a suit with all your clothes in a carry-on. I'd also recommend getting packing cubes (see Amazon). really helps keep the clothes organized, and makes it much easier to pack. :)

2 weeks in a carry on? I think that needs to be the title of your next posting Nelson. Thats 14 pairs of underwear OR you're flipping things inside out to get a 2nd day to conserve space. lol

Five pairs of shoes is inadequate. I typically sport 6+, including flip flops.
