My Time in Liverpool
I recently travelled back to Liverpool for the Archery club's end-of-year meal. We had a reason to celebrate as we secured second place in the NEUL Novice League. So, how did I start with archery? During an exchange semester at the University of Liverpool from September 2023 to January 2024, I discovered my passion for archery. I met many incredible people there, and they helped me grow personally.
Study Abroad Experience
Before we delve more into Archery, I first want to talk about the experiences I gained while doing my exchange semester. This was my first time moving out of my house and living in another country by myself. There were numerous challenges, but I faced them head-on and made new friends in the process.
Courses followed: Psychological Approaches to Decision-making, Global Economic (and Business) Environment, Principles of People Management, and International Finance. I really enjoyed the expertise and discussions with the lecturers.
Archery
Archery is a mentally demanding sport, with numerous micro elements impacting performance. The game begins the moment you step up to the line. You find your ideal stance and focus on your breathing while drawing your bow. With full back tension, you aim for the perfect position through your scope. Upon achieving your ideal draw, you release the arrow. The sound of the release can indicate success or failure. It feels as if everyone is watching when you are the last person in line during a competition. This results in significant pressure to perform.

In a competition, you fire 60 arrows over 20 rounds. This could take up to 2.5 hours, depending on the number of participants. After each round, take a step back, chat with your fellow competitors, and try to enjoy the experience.
Medal
Even though I was not there for the entire year, I feel honoured to have encountered so many supportive individuals who, together, achieved such outstanding results as a club. Whenever I see the medal, I will think about my study abroad experience, and it will make me smile.
