My Three Best Tips to Help You Achieve Your Goals on World Productivity Day

My Three Best Tips to Help You Achieve Your Goals on World Productivity Day

Today is World Productivity Day, so you’ll be seeing links to all kinds of apps, systems, books and methodologies that will “revolutionize your workflow”. (Don't forget to buy shares in Slack today.) But what’s the point in having an efficient workflow if you don’t know what you’re working towards.

So here’s my 3 tips for Executives, Creative Directors, and Influencers on how to ensure your newfound productivity is being put to the best use.

Create a Plan. Then Follow It.

Stop living and working with a “ready, fire, aim” mentality. If you don’t know where you want to end up, how can you possibly be working towards that goal every day? Maybe you’re making some progress, but it is likely incredibly inefficient.

Before I lift a finger for my clients, we sit down for a two-day intensive strategy session to discuss their brand, their goals, and their vision. We then create a “reverse timeline”, working backwards from the end goal and laying in the pieces and parts needed to accomplish their vision.

That way, if your goal is to be a powerful voice in the B2B space, you aren’t putting a majority of your time into one-on-one meetings, but instead are posting on LinkedIn weekly and speaking on stages across the world. And if you aspire to be a New York Times Bestselling Author, we help you create a strong social following who will buy your book come launch day.

Stop Being a Bottleneck – Delegate

For some, this is a hard pill to swallow. Many high-level CEOs and Type-A personalities know that they are great at what they do, and sometimes it’s just easier to do it yourself than to try explaining it and then reviewing and then giving notes and then reviewing again and on and on. But there comes a day when that inbox becomes too full and you can’t produce fast enough. You wind up slowing everything down and might even start causing others to miss deadlines. I regularly find this to be the case for many of our high-level clients.

You need to delegate to someone who understands you, your voice, and your brand at its core. Whether it’s an employee, a freelancer, or an agency that understands how to create in your voice and according to your vision on your behalf, you need to get it off your plate – today!

Sometimes, it’s simply that there’s too much to do and not enough people to do it. In this case, it’s best to hire out. The hiring process for content creation positions can be exhausting and can lead to even more bottlenecking if you hire the wrong person. Recognize how valuable your time is and delegate. Don’t waste your time producing things that could easily be completed by others.

I specialize in learning how to speak in my clients’ voices to further their brand strategies without needing them to be involved in the creation of every single piece of collateral. They get to respond at a high level instead of having to dictate the creative process along the way.

Take Action

Don’t waste another day further putting off your deadlines and dreams. Invest the time in yourself. Log off and write down your goals. Then write down the steps you need to follow to get there. If you aren’t sure how to accomplish them – DON’T QUIT NOW! Ask for help from people who know how to achieve it.

My personal and professional networks are large, and I’m not interested in you paying me to help you achieve your goals. I’m sure I know the people you need to be in touch with, and I’m sure you or your company possess a skill that one of my clients is looking for.

Remember – New York Times Bestsellers don’t wind up on the list by accident. My team and I crafted dozens of book marketing plans that say otherwise. Thought leaders don’t get to take the stage after Robert Kiyosaki or Jay Shetty or Dan Lok by accident. I’ve spent countless hours crafting spectacular opportunities and all-star lineups for stages across the globe.

Lean on your network and your tribe. And be sure to send me a message on LinkedIn telling me how I can help you achieve your goals!
