My Thoughts on Using Chat GPT and AI
DISCLAIMER: I am not an AI or ChatGPT expert. In the past week, I have simply checked it out and give my thoughts on how to use them in digital marketing specifically #content #marketing; #copywriting is involved here as well
I was surprised to learn how much ChatGTP could do, and I'm excited about the different ways we can use it as digital marketers.
So what I plan to do with it is make a rough draft of how we could use it. For example:
1. What we can use AI and ChatGTP for,
2. The frameworks and processes of usage that could be leveraged by this tool
3. How to make the best possible use of it in the long run
In checking out the tool, I have determined that it could be useful in digital marketing as follows:
1. Learning - Taking notes can be a good way to learn, because you're processing information and creating frameworks for future reference
Idea Generation - It can help us generate ideas that are useful in business, digital marketing and other areas.
It can provide us with prompts, lists, and potential resources for creating content.
Here are three ways to apply this framework for #digitalmarketing:
1. Understand that humans and AI tools can work together in a symbiotic relationship;
2. Recognize the strengths of each tool and use them accordingly;
3. Trust your gut as much or more than any data you might be presented with
4. Context is as important, if not more so, than content. The information created by ChatGTP and AI is useless unless it has meaning for the person who asks about a particular topic—and that's only possible when the context of their question (such as what they already know) can be taken into account.
LEARNING
For #learning, I would use ChatGTP and AI in the context of Tim Ferriss' Meta-Learning Framework. Yes, there are other ways to learn—but for now this is something that holds my interest.
The #Meta-Learning #Framework includes the following key ideas:
1. Deconstruction -> What are the main ideas, actions and frameworks to learn about this skill or body of knowledge?
2. In selecting materials for learning, identify the ones most appropriate to your situation or context.
3. Sequencing—> What logical progression should I have in mind when trying to learn something?
4. Stakes -> How can I hold myself accountable for finishing the learning process once it's started?
5. Compression - How do I create a summarized version (a cheat sheet) of the main ideas, actions or frameworks that I am learning?
6. Frequency—how do you schedule learning to reinforce your memory longterm
7. Encoding-How does my brain use mnemonic devices for optimal retention and recall
When learning about leveraging ChatGPT, remember that a learner needs the following:
a. Clarity of Purpose, Direction, and Action
b. Process
c. Accountability/Checks and Balances
Here, then, are some tips to remember when using ChatGPT for learning...
Step 1: Establish #Learning Goals
When setting goals, strive to be as clear and specific as possible.
Step 2: Learn about and apply Tim Ferriss' meta-learning framework
Use ChatGPT and AI to help you deconstruct, select, sequence, and compress.
You can ask questions on ChatGPT by using the sample questions as templates.
1. Conduct a Pareto Analysis of the Concepts or Skills you want to learn.
For example, "Please conduct a Pareto analysis of the skills and concepts that you need to learn in Python programming."
2. Ask what the main ideas are that you want to learn.
For example, "What are some of the main concepts in existentialist philosophy?"
B. Selection
1. Ask for a list of potential learning resources
For example, "What are the best learning materials for someone who wants to learn how to bake?"
2. Ask for links for resources
For example, please list links for learning how to use Database Management for business.
C. #Sequencing
1. Ask what are the steps to learning a skill or concept.
e.g. "What steps do I need to learn in cooking spaghetti?"
D. Compression
1. Ask for a cheat sheet
e.g. "Please create a cheat sheet for C++?"
2. Ask for links to cheat sheets
e.g. "Please create list of links to cheat sheets for using Notion."
Step 4: Save content generated for future use
Step 5: Proceed with your learning
IDEA GENERATION
Using AI and ChatGPT to generate ideas is simple. But by using a framework for gathering information, organizing it, choosing which parts work best together or have the highest priority—and then executing on those choices—you can make your outputs even more powerful.
I believe idea generation involves the following steps:
1. Goalsetting
2. Gathering of ideas
3. Creating connections
4. Storing ideas for execution or later use
In this case of idea generation, I would use the following framework
1. Establishing Contexts
2. Idea Generation Proper
3. CODE
4. PARA
A. Establishing Contexts
I would need to understand what the ideas are for in light of my goals and purposes. I would probably ask:
1. What am I trying to accomplish?
2. What is the time frame I'm going to use?
3. How broad or specific is the information that I need?

4. How am I going to use the information I generated through the tool?
After establishing these contexts, I would proceed with the next steps.
B. Idea Generation Proper
Once you have clarified your contexts, consider the following when generating ideas:
1. Add as many parameters or queries to a search engine in order to receive more specific results.
2. Check or verify information generated in the future
3. How relevant is the information to your contexts
C. CODE
I recently read Tiago Forte's "Build a Second Brain" and believe that the frameworks he created would work well when it comes to leveraging ChatGPT. In terms of generating ideas, I am adopting two of his frameworks in this document—they are:
The first is CODE, which stands for
1. Capture - How do you save information you generated?
a. Analog - Notebooks, loose sheets, post-its etc.
b. Digital - Notepad, Notion, Evernote, Obsidian, Roam Research etc.
2. Organize - How would you classify information in such a way that it gives you smooth retrieval for current or future use?
-> See next step
3. Distill - How would you process and choose which information to use for current or future use?
-> David Allen's Get Things Done methodology can help in this
4. Express - What is the output that you can create from the ideas generated?
In a digital marketing context, the output can include the following:
a. Written content
b. Frameworks and Processes
c. Strategies
D. PARA
Another framework I learned from "Build a Second Brain" is the PARA organization method. To wit...
1. Projects - Short-term efforts in your work or life that you’re working on now.
-> What are you working on?
-> Where does the information I generated fall in the projects I'm doing?
2. Areas - Long-term responsibilities you want to manage over time.
-> This could include the following things (based on Danielle LaPorte's "The Desire Map")
a. Livelihood and Lifestyle
b. Body and Wellness
c. Creativity and Learning
d. Relationships and Society
e. Essence and Spirituality
3. Resources - Topics or interests that may be useful in the future.
-> Use this as storage for specific or generalized information
4. Archives - Inactive items from the other three categories.
-> At the end of the day, if you are not going to use information for a long time, put it here.
Once you've gathered and processed the ideas generated from ChatGPT, use it to your discretion.
#CONTENT CREATION
Creating content is a vital part of marketing efforts for modern digital marketers—especially copywriters, social media professionals and content writers.
In order to create content, there are several things you must consider.
1. Purpose and types of content
2. Ideal Customer/Client Avatar
3. Platforms for Executing Content
4. Process of Content Creation
ChatGPT can be used to generate ideas, and it can help you create rough drafts that you can then refine.
Note: It is my understanding that there are already online tools that check whether the content is generated by ChatGTP and/or AI.
I don't want the reader to be a plagiarist. I want her or him to engage intellectually with what's been written, not just copy and paste it without thoughtfulness or engagement.
Make sure you are clear about your purpose, audience, platforms and process when using these tools.
A. Purpose and Types of Content
Content creation is a subset of content marketing. Creating valuable content shows prospects that your business knows what it's talking about—and can help them solve their problems or achieve their goals.
Personally, I'd go with what I call the Three E's
1. Entertain
2. Educate
3. Enlighten
B. Ideal Customer/Client Avatar
A content creation practitioner can better serve their clients if they take the time to identify who is on the other end of those communications. This means creating a document dedicated to characterizing the audience—what it's like, what its concerns are, what makes customers tick. It's called an Ideal Customer/Client Avatar
This includes the following information:
1. Demographic - Factual information
2. Psychographic - Psychological information (i.e. needs, wants, desires, etc.)
C. Platforms for Executing Content
This could be for websites, social media (Facebook, Instagram), email campaigns and other forms of electronic communication.
D. Process of Content Creation
When creating content, this is the framework that I use.
1. Preparation
-> This means knowing the purpose, audience, content types, platforms etc.
2. Idea Generation
-> The idea generation framework I mentioned earlier can stand in for this
3. Content creation
-> With the ideas generated, I will then create content for posting
4. Review and Editing
-> When I create content for my clients, I need to show them what I've written and get their feedback so that we can make changes together.
5. Scheduling and posting
-> Once content is edited and approved, I would schedule and/or post as needed in the various platforms that have been chosen
Ideally, the framework would go through the following time frame on a monthly basis:
Week 1 - Preparation, Idea Generation, and Initial Content Creation
Week 2 - Initial Reviewing and Editing
Week 3 - Final Reviewing and Editing
Week 4 - Scheduling
-> I would do this process is so that the content for the preceding month is created and scheduled (i.e., Content created in January will be posted by February)—so, if you happen to schedule something now it's likely not going live until March or April at least!
So far, these are my thoughts on leveraging ChatGPT and artificial intelligence in learning, idea generation & content creation as a digital marketer. I hope this helps you with your own use of the tool!
