My TASK journey

It all started when I was a naive 2nd-year student who still had no clue what an Actuary actually does. At the same time, our school club, Nairobi University Actuarial Students Association (NASA), had lost its recognition within the campus. I felt the need to revive the club while having a clear view of the profession and how my studies related to the industry.
A thought came to mind that the best way to kill two birds with one stone would be:-
1. Contact (The Actuarial Society of Kenya) TASK to support me during the NASA events.
2. Through that, I'll meet Actuaries in the industry who will tell me more about the profession and what the work actually entails.
That was the best decision I have ever made and the beginning of my awesome journey with TASK.
I have met most of the Actuaries in the industry, and many of them have mentored me in a great way. It's always a humbling experience when one of them takes time out of their busy schedule to talk to me, and if you know me well enough... I always have bazillion questions and stories to share.
I have worked in the TASK working parties with extremely brilliant Actuaries, and I have learned a lot from them. I have been tasked with projects that, at the onset, I had no idea about but eventually got a good understanding of the subject and excellently delivered.
I have been part of organizing the Actuarial Conventions and learned so much about events organizing and management. (Let me tell you... Actuaries can be great event planners. Everything always falls in place with little or no hiccups ??)
Most importantly, I am always humbled and honored to be part of the TASK events where I meet more Actuaries who have a wealth of knowledge of the profession and other careers.
Thank you, TASK, for being part of my career journey this far and in the future.
