My take on being 'educated'

The primary goal of education is often seen as securing a good job and financial stability, leading to a better life. However, for me, a critical aspect is instilling a strong value system in individuals. True education lies in shaping critical thinkers and ethical decision-makers.

Learning new things alters our perspectives, changing the way we see the world and enabling us to understand why things happen and better control our reactions. This allows us to handle situations calmly and logically, getting overwhelmed by emotions.

Education fosters essential moral values like kindness and empathy. When we learn about emotions and understand the concept of different perspectives, we become kinder and more empathetic towards others. Without this awareness, we might end up being judgmental. So, education not only expands our knowledge but also nurtures qualities that make us better human beings.

Ultimately, better individuals contribute to a better society. And I dont need to state the reason why we need a better society. So, regardless of the number of degrees someone holds, if they lack basic moral values, they don’t fit my definition of being ‘educated’.

Highly "educated" individuals with degrees don't always exhibit the expected level of behavior, highlighting the importance of moral values over mere qualifications. Their responses to conflicts and differing opinions don't seem to match their level of education or qualifications.

So, we should focus on developing a strong value system alongside acquiring degrees, as this is what truly makes us educated and contributes to creating a better society...

Opinions welcomed :)
