My Superpower and Enemy Are One

My Superpower and Enemy Are One

My superpower and enemy are one.?

I have strength for vision…for seeing something that could be done differently or an opportunity to solve a problem. Furthermore, I can inspire and motivate others around me towards that vision.?

To go from nothing to something is exhilarating. It energizes me and it energizes others.?

This has been identified and affirmed by others and various assessments including Strengthsfinder and StandOut.

The challenge with this superpower is the other side of the coin.

When not in check with intentional discipline and accountability from those around me, my ability to rest and to be fully present doesn’t come naturally.?

The problem of course is that the long-term success of a life well lived doesn’t come in the achievements.?

We all know from personal experience of setting and achieving a goal that the feelings associated with that achievement come and go.?

Tony Robbins emphasizes the importance of treasuring progress over achievements.?

Why??

Because progress is a daily thing whereas achievements come and go. If we strive and long only for the reward at the finish line, we may miss the beauty of each day.?

Over time, I’m learning to embrace my superpower and tame the enemy…to give it the space to flourish while being aware when it rears its ugly head.

For me, this relates a big to the Power of Tiny Gains Rule - a concept from James Clear. If you get just 1% better at something every day for a year, you'll end up 37x better. Even the tiniest progress can have dramatic impact - you don't have to perform twice as well every day to get twice as big results.
