Data!

Your data.

Not your neighbor's data. Not the butcher's, the baker's or the candlestick maker's data.

YOUR DATA.

That is your super secret sauce to social media success!

What Does Data Have to Do With It?

Data is everything.

If you know where to look, data tells you:

  • What is working online, and what is not.
  • Where people found you online
  • How people found you online.
  • How much they liked your content.
  • What they did after finding you.
  • What content they liked best.
  • How you stack up against your competitors.
  • Which ads performed best.
  • What platform drives the most traffic to your website.
  • ... (just about anything you want to know)

But here is the kicker.

You need to know where to find it, and how to then use this data strategically.

How and Where Should You Get Data?

You can get data from quite a few places!

?? Social media platforms

?? Scheduling tools (My favorite: AgoraPulse)

?? Google Analytics

?? Data Analytics Tools (My favorite: Socialinsider)

BUT... wait.

There is a super secret ingredient to this sauce!

Data is a bunch of numbers, percentages and statistics that don't mean a thing until a human interprets them for your business. THIS is the secret ingredient in the super secret sauce!

Data Tells No Lies

The bottom line is this. Data is data is data is data.

When creating and publishing content, you should not 'create it and forget it'. Instead, you test. You compare. You try new copy, new images, new formats... and while you do this, you collect data points. Constantly. Not after three month, or a year.

Gather data points constantly and consistently. This counts for both paid and organic efforts!

In Agile Marketing, we call this iterations. Each update, each adjustment to your content is an improvement to your marketing effort.

Using data to learn what's working, how it is working and where it is working is the secret sauce many businesses are missing. Knowing how to interpret that data to improve your marketing strategy is the secret ingredient that will make it all work.
