I shall be brief today in presenting the preview of what shall be happening tomorrow at Lagos Talks 91.3 FM, when Sadiq & The Guru come on air, for review of topical issues, live, by 0930 hours, for a reason of what can be called testimony of “salvation”, that l shall be giving tomorrow. Briefly to a few of the teasers please.
Dr Obadiah Mailafia; the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, was in the news, albeit heavily a few days ago. It was when he granted an interview to a radio station - Naija info FM, alleging that a Northern Nigerian Governor was (or is?) the Commander of Boko Haram. He alluded to many other things, including the next daring plans of the dreaded Jihadist to invade some other parts of the country.
Dr Mailafia had had his turn with the Nigerian DSS, and spoken audaciously about those privileged information at his disposal, without retracting anything he earlier said. The ripple of that Mailafia/Government encounter is giving birth to different offsprings along other corridors.
For example, the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation has slammed a fine of N5m on the radio station for allowing its outlet to be used, according to the NBC, “for incitement”. This is in a situation when the radio station never invented any story, never misquoted anybody, but it instead broadcasted a live interview. May the righteous not die by faith!
And there is no Organisation, or even any individual to protect the Radio Station. What do we call this? Governance through blackmail, intimidation or arm-twisting?
Nigeria has become a country of oddities - or has it not? Take a look at the situation where the Miyyeti Allah proposed establishing a Vigilante Group all over the country. You can call it Miyetti Allah Kauta Hore “Vigilante Army” or something like that, operating “Constitutionally Unconstitutional” in this country; a country being administered by the 1999 Constitution, as amended. The federal government that is in custody of the Nigerian constitution goes incommunicado at a time like this - went to sleep. However, Benue State Government says no - that Miyetti Allah Kauta Hore cannot operate anything like that in the territory of Benue State. This proclamation of Benue State Government infuriated Miyetti Allah so much that the latter is demanding an apology from the former. What happens from there? Let’s follow the narration tomorrow.
Former US Ambassador to Nigeria; a good friend of Nigeria at its most needy time,
Walter Carrington, is dead. Don’t forget that he was our son-in-law also. Shouldn’t Nigeria arrange a befitting burial for such an intimate friend and son-in-law?
Former President; Olusegun Obasanjo, has cried out to Nigerian youths, to rise up and take political power from those old Nigerians politicians that are not willing to leave the political scene. Join us tomorrow to analyse this clarion call to service.
The Nigerian Ports Authority has achieved a feat not too common in the annals of maritime operations in Nigeria. It berthed a gigantic vessel of 300 meters length and 48 meter width at the Federal Ocean Terminal In Onne, Port Harcourt, last weekend. Kudos!
Okay, let me remind you, as the curtain for today’s preview is being drawn, that both the precious Historical Perspective and the priceless Knowledge Dropbox await you tomorrow.
