My Sunday Broadcast - If these Fulani killers herdsmen are not Nigerian, can those that invited them return them back?

Your evergreen weekly show - Adu & The Guru, comes up tomorrow, Monday, March 8, 2021, at the usual Radio Station; Lagos Talks 91.3 FM, starting from 9:30am. And always, l have the liberty of sharing preview of some of the events, and other related issues, with you. 

Before hitting the route of decoding some of the teasers, let us take a pathetic look at a particular road; amongst many roads, we shouldn’t have passed but which we chose to follow. It is a nasty and contentious topic that many would have preferred we never discussed, but in my typical characteristic, l tackle issues head-on. It doesn’t matter how unattractive the issue is, l take it head on. 

Again, it is one of those traits of wisdom l inherited from my father. The old man; Samuel Etakibuebu Achohra - may God bless his soul, believed that any “wound that needed to be heal faster should be opened up deeply so that application of medicines for its treatment could originate from the inner part”. His conclusion was that, “that is the only way of getting faster healing of the wound”. 

The Fulani herdsmen of today’s Nigeria; with full technological knowledge of manipulating and operating AK47, and other deadly guns - the Fulani classified by the Global Terrorism Index as the fourth deadliest terror group in the whole world, have overtaken Nigeria. 

And they operate all over the country, with deadliest impunity and audacity, in a way that suggests an operation with higher Authority’s backing. In fact, there is no evidence to say that these killer-Fulani herdsmen are not enjoying governmental backing. Instead, what we see is too many government officials making excuses on their behalf in pronouncements that need not to be taken to any language laboratory for analysis. 

We have it fresh in our memory that the first set of Fulani to enter “this part of the world” or this area of Sub-Sahara Africa arrived here in the very early 1800. They were not here throughout the 1700 - any history to the contrary is fallacy of documentation. 

Those earlier Fulani settlers arrived here from Futa Toro in lower Senegal. They were nomadic and they would have arrived with some herds. Whatever and however format of settlement they sorted on arrival, it turned into Jihad, and had remained so ever since then. 

This narration is to make the route of discovery clearer and also, to bring home the wisdom of knowing and understanding our differences as that is the only means for ourselves in establishing a better and enduring relationship of co-existence. 

This was the superior wisdom Sir Ahmadu Bello; a direct descendent of the Fulani Sheikh Uthman Dan Fodio, and also the first Premier of Northern Nigeria, displayed over Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe when the formation of Nigeria was being discussed. Let us listen to both of them again before drawing the curtain on this intervention. 

Azikiwe: “Let is forget our differences and forge ahead”. 

Ahmadu Bello: “No, let us understand our differences. I am a Muslim and a Northerner. You are a Christian, an Easterner. By understanding our differences, we can build unity in our country”.  

We need illumination of light into the beginning of the discussion, which started with Fulani herdsmen that have taken Nigeria to practical hell. 

Could today’s dangerous Fulani be descendants of those that arrived this part of Africa in 1801? 

Or, is today’s Fulani different from those of earlier arrivals? 

This is a question we must answer, applying the wisdom of Sir Ahmadu Bello, because until we know the difference, the narration of President Buhari and others that today’s killers-Fulani-herdsmen are from outside Nigeria. Or, isn’t that the claim now?

Another area of the narration that we must interrogate further is this claim and counterclaim about how “these non-Nigerian Fulani” arrived here. The sound we are hearing these days from different personae dramatis, both at the PDP and APC Political Camps, each laying claim to “those who invited Fulani from the West African sub-region into Nigeria for the purpose of 2015 General Election” is traumatizing, and yet, we are not clearer on facts of movement. Our navigational equipment are blurred still. 

Here comes our collective debacle. Does it mean that those that invited these killers Fulani herdsmen into Nigeria for whatever purpose cannot return them back to where they brought them from? And until we get rid of these specie of Fulani killers Nigeria is most likely to go into extermination - the indigenous Nigerian Fulani inclusive. 

Who can, and will, carry out this responsibility of getting rid of these “foreign Fulani” from our land? 

Permit me to suggest President Muhammadu Buhari for this assignment. And for many reasons that shall come for discussion hereafter. 

Time to look at some of the teasers please. 

“ICYMI: Nigerians’ll be shocked by those behind schoolgirls abduction, says Matawalle”. 

Bello Matawalle is the Governor of Zamfara State under whose supervision over 300 schoolgirls from Government Girls’ Secondary School in Jangebe, were abducted by bandits. 

The Governor is very close and intimate with those bandits operating in the North-West geopolitical zone of Nigeria. He is almost as close to them (the bandits) as Sheikh Abubakar Gumi - let us hold Gumi story for another time. 

So when the Governor said that Nigerians would be shocked to know those behind the abduction; a regular “lucrative business” going on in Northern Nigeria presently, we held our breath, waiting for the mother-of-revelations. But alas, as of two days ago, the name Matawalle was able to release was a security man guiding the school. Who does that shock? 

Let us look at another issue. 

We now know that the money to finance the railroad from Nigeria to Republic of Niger is being borrowed from China because it is now that China is just finalizing the arrangement. Do you want to have the details of this-not-too-clear business intrigue? Then, you need to keep date with Lagos Talks 91.3 FM tomorrow as The Guru will be waiting for you. 

Next: How come that the EFCC is suddenly drawing a huge fish net around Ahmed Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; the highly respected Jagaban and National Leader of the biggest and largest Political Party in Africa - APC? 

So, it is true that there is what is called the abracadabra of politics? Do we hail Nigeria or what do we do as it relates to this Tinubu issue with the EFCC. How come the EFCC is just waking up from a deep slumber to knowing the house’s address of “Eko”? In case you don’t know this before, know it that Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu is Eko himself. 

There are more for review tomorrow, by the grace of God, and these would include how most Nigerian politicians worshipped Satan first before looking to where they might see God. And even when they find God, they don’t stick to him as you anticipate.

Or have you forgotten so soon how Dr Chris Ngige had to go to Okija shrine in Ihiala, to swear to an oath before becoming Governor of Anambra State?

Wait until you hear the story of another top Nigerian politician, across the River Niger to the East, who also swore an oath in one of those dark altars of Satan before becoming a Deputy Governor.
