My Summer Internship at Novartis Pharmaceuticals: A Journey of Learning and Growth

This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to intern as a Technical Product Management Intern at Novartis Pharmaceuticals, working within the dynamic Novartis Patient Support (NPS) team. It was a transformative experience that allowed me to dive deep into the world of radioligand therapy order management while developing skills that will shape my future career.?

Novartis is a global healthcare leader, driven by its mission to reimagine medicine to improve and extend people’s lives. As I embarked on this internship, my primary objectives were to gain hands-on experience in product management, enhance my technical skills in DevOps, and understand the intricacies of the healthcare industry. I was eager to contribute meaningfully and learn from the brilliant minds at Novartis.?

During my time at Novartis, my responsibilities included analyzing meeting notes to capture crucial insights and ensure effective communication across teams. I also collaborated closely with my colleagues, on DevOps feature development, working on key features and translating them into accessible wiki documentation. Understanding development processes and translating features into user stories was another valuable aspect of my role. Additionally, I coordinated with product owners and business analysts to ensure smooth feature development and timely releases. I worked closely with stakeholders to align the project with user needs and expectations.

This internship was a significant learning experience. I honed my technical proficiency in DevOps, enhanced my project management and analytical thinking skills, and developed a deep understanding of future scope definition and business strategy. These skills will undoubtedly serve me well as I advance in my career.

One of my most significant contributions was conducting a case study on how Novartis Patient Support can become a pioneer in digitalizing patient support services. This study provided valuable insights and strategic recommendations that have the potential to guide future efforts in this area. Additionally, I identified key steps to technologically update the start form process, which could significantly reduce errors and increase efficiency. I learned about the importance of customizing solutions based on patient needs.

Throughout my internship, I had the privilege of working with Vishnu Rao Irina Polsinelli Leigh Johnson and the whole incredible team of NPS, who were instrumental in my learning process. The relationships I built here are invaluable, and I’m grateful for the guidance and support I received.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to Novartis for this incredible opportunity. A special thanks to my mentors Melissa Poole and Wendy Wienhoff and colleagues, who provided guidance and shared their knowledge with me. This internship has solidified my passion for product management and healthcare technology. As I move forward, I am excited to apply the skills and knowledge I’ve gained to continue innovating and contributing to the field. My goal is to stay at the forefront of technological advancements, particularly in patient support services, and help Novartis remain a leader in the industry.
