My Summer Internship at iCore Software Systems

iCore Software Systems is a rising technology firm specializing in tailored solutions for small to mid-scale business markets, encompassing product development, custom software development, building web/mobile applications, website designing, IT staffing, and other related services. This summer, I had the privilege of joining iCore as an Information Technology Intern, embarking on a rewarding journey that spanned from May 22, 2023, to July 30, 2023. Working alongside an exceptional team, I seized the opportunity to explore various facets of the IT industry, gaining an educational and well-rounded IT experience.

During the initial phase, I had the privilege of working closely with the Quality Assurance team, whose guidance helped me get accustomed to the company's ongoing projects. To showcase my comprehension of the assigned project, I took on the task of designing and presenting a product demo to the entire team. This experience not only bolstered my familiarity with a particular product but also added to my knowledge of the software development cycle and honed my public speaking abilities and presentation skills. As I became more deeply involved with the QA team, I also embraced the crucial responsibilities of defect tracking, assuming the role of a tester for one of our projects. My active participation in our daily QA meetings also provided me with firsthand exposure to issue identification and reporting to the development team.

This experience also allowed me to immerse myself in their core operational model, which revolves around project management, particularly the agile/scrum-based development methodologies. Alongside this, I familiarized myself with the company's adoption of the Software as a Service (SaaS) model for its products. Throughout my time at iCore, I actively participated in daily status calls, staying well-informed of the team's ongoing project updates. In fact, I even assumed the role of Scrum master for a few weeks, which significantly deepened my understanding of effective team coordination and leadership.

Reflecting upon these past months, I can attest to my substantial growth as an individual and a future professional. Notably, my internship at iCore Software Systems has also fostered the development of my technical writing skills, adding yet another invaluable asset to my professional repertoire. A few more of my noteworthy accomplishments include meeting deadlines consistently, improving my communication skills both in speaking and writing, and collaborating effectively with diverse team members from around the world.

As my internship draws to a close, I am able to take away newfound skills and knowledge about the IT industry, highlighted by hands-on experience that will undoubtedly shape my future endeavors. Lastly, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my exceptional team at iCore, whose unwavering support and guidance have been key in making this internship a rewarding experience. I look forward to staying connected with this remarkable community as I embark on the next chapter of my professional journey!
