My Summer Internship at GlobalFoundries
“In the world of semiconductors, every connection matters—whether it's the circuits we build or the relationships we forge. This summer, I learned that true innovation happens at the intersection of technology and teamwork.”
Reflecting on my summer internship at GlobalFoundries, I’m struck by how much this experience has shaped my understanding of both the semiconductor industry and the power of collaboration. Working as a Process Engineering Controls (PEC) Intern at the Burlington, VT fab was more than just a professional milestone—it was a realization of a dream and a journey of growth.
Throughout this internship, I had the opportunity to contribute to several impactful projects that not only honed my technical skills but also deepened my appreciation for the intricate processes that drive semiconductor manufacturing. One of my key responsibilities was "Developing and implementing a robust methodology for tightening control limits in the Fault Detection and Classification (FDC) systems." This involved using statistical analysis tools like R Language, Tibco Spitfire and Advanced Process Control (APC) System - Fabguard by Inficon, significantly improving detection accuracy and process stability. Additionally, I led the integration of modified Meta and Alt limits across various modules, which streamlined performance tracking and enhanced key process indicators within our KPI dashboard.
None of this would have been possible without the support of an exceptional team. A sincere thank you to my manager, Scott Cummings , whose leadership and guidance were invaluable, and to my mentor, Rob Vatter , for his wisdom and encouragement. I’m also deeply appreciative of my teammates, Isabella Steinley , Kyle Babinski , James Provost , Dean Rice and Dan Carr for their collaboration, and to Joslin Gilbo, MBA and Zachary Zelinski for ensuring a smooth and enriching internship experience.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey was the chance to engage with and learn from industry leaders like CEO Tom Caulfield , Chief People Officer Pradheepa Raman , Chief Manufacturing Officer Pradip Singh , Fab9 GM Kenneth McAvey , Senior Director Yield and Integration Engineering Kylee Coffey and Director of Manufacturing Engineering David Yao Their insights into leadership and innovation have left a lasting impression on me and will undoubtedly influence my career moving forward.
