Mahadevan Ramanan
Data Analytics Intern at mender | Actively seeking Full Time Opportunities Starting in June | MSBA at UT Dallas | Ex-Affine | Power BI | SQL | Azure Data Factory | Python | R
This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to work as a Data Analytics Intern at Mender, a company dedicated to minimizing environmental footprints through Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) focused services. During my internship, I engaged in multiple exciting projects, focusing on visualizing performance metrics.
Throughout my internship, I utilized various tools, including Python, SQL, Power BI, and Excel, for data extraction, transformation, and modeling. I was able to apply fundamental knowledge from my academic courses, such as Database Foundations for Business Analytics, Predictive Analytics, and Business Analytics with R. These tools and concepts were instrumental in generating valuable insights for business decision-making.
One of my key projects involved creating KPI dashboards to simplify and communicate necessary information for client reporting. For this project, I performed web automation using selenium for efficient data extraction, transformed data using pandas and loaded them into a SQL DB to be used for downstream analysis and reporting. It gave me an opportunity to work on designing and developing an end-to-end workflow for automating this entire process.
Working at Mender has been an amazing experience. I was given complete independence to explore the data and generate insights, which was both challenging and rewarding. The supportive environment allowed me to reach out to colleagues with any questions about processes or deliverables. I had the privilege of working with Jeffrey Bell , Robert Erwin , and Kent Taggart , whose mentorship significantly enhanced my business acumen.
The experience at Mender has not only enriched my technical skills but also reinforced the importance of teamwork and effective communication in achieving project goals. I am eager to continue this journey and apply my knowledge to upcoming projects, confident that the skills and insights gained during this internship will be invaluable in my future career.
