My Summer Co-op Internship Experience at Delta Electronics Americas

Hello everyone!

I'm thrilled to share my enriching journey as an HR Analyst Intern at Delta Electronics Americas . These past 12 weeks (and still counting) have been a whirlwind of learning, implementing, achieving, and growing.

In this role, I've had the opportunity to work on Corporate Recruitment Strategies for the US, while also delving into the operational and analytical side of the HR department. Little did I know that merging IT with HR would result in such a harmonious blend of skills. I honed the art of efficient market research, data mining, gathering, cleansing, and mapping, followed by insightful analysis and presentation using Advanced Excel. The result? Reducing the time needed to collect information from weeks to just a few hours.

Currently, I work alongside Chih Huang Lin , HR Project Manager, to orchestrate the entire Intern Program at Delta. This involves impeccable communication, rapid query resolution, meticulous information gathering, and effective presentations to higher management. I had to master Agile Methodologies and keep in pace with the dynamic change requests from the management. I actively participated in sprint ceremonies, immersing myself in the dynamic realm of Project management.

My strong command over tools such as Python, SQL, Google Analytics, Microsoft Project, Tableau, PowerBI, Microsoft Excel (particularly VBAs and Macros), and Microsoft Word and PowerPoint Presentation empowered me to refine estimations, streamline scheduling and create effective presentations. This transformation resulted in significant enhancements to project delivery timelines, acting as a catalyst for my professional advancement and bolstering my self-assurance.

My journey extended beyond these tasks. I cross-collaborated with Marketing, Finance, Product Engineering, and Strategy teams, actively shaping HR strategies for the next two years. This endeavor provided me with invaluable insights into Delta's corporate culture and systems like Workday, Delta OA system, LinkedIn Recruiter Talent Hub, ATS, Handshake, Indeed, SAP, and many more, which fostered a broader perspective on the company's functioning. Moreover, I had the opportunity to visit other educational institutions, connecting with diverse faculties and broadening my horizons.

Transitioning to my role as a member of the Talent Acquisition Scrum Team, my responsibilities expanded. I meticulously planned and executed business configurations of the ATS system within LinkedIn. In this dynamic role, I reviewed resumes, coordinated interviews, and performed HR recruitment data analysis using Advanced Excel. The outcomes of these efforts were detailed reports that provided actionable insights to the management for informed decision-making and creating a comprehensive budget for the future. My engagement in campus recruiting efforts and market research further enriched my experience. I embraced the role of a campus ambassador, fostering strong relationships with student associations and enhancing our employer branding. This journey involved close collaboration with internal and external experts to understand and document existing and proposed business processes and requirements.

My journey at Delta Electronics not only advanced my skills but also deepened my understanding of the operational aspects of HR, the integral role of IT in HR, Strategic planning, and Project Management. This holistic experience significantly contributed to both my personal and professional development. I am thankful to my family and friends for their constant support, especially my senior Ratnam Swamy for guiding me throughout the internship journey. I would also thank my co-interns Alexander Luu and Bao Duong for making the journey a memorable one.
