My summer internship experience as a Data Scientist intern at ASML

I had an incredible summer experience working as a Data Scientist intern at ASML. Moving to another state in the USA for an internship was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I had the opportunity to work at ASML SanDiego, California.

Let's talk about the company- ASML is one of the few firms in the world capable of making the highly complex machines that are needed to manufacture the most advanced chips. In fact, ASML’s technology is probably a part of the electronic device you’re using right now. ASML’s lithography technology is fundamental to mass-producing semiconductor chips. With it, the world’s top chipmakers are creating microchips that are more powerful, faster, and energy-efficient.

I had the opportunity to work with the Data Science and Analytics team for DUV Lithography. I had worked with multiple projects which perfectly aligns with my interest and business analytics coursework. The projects gave me hands-on experience to use my machine learning expertise to provide better recommendations and meaningful insights to the team by analyzing the provided data. I had worked with tools and technologies like Python, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Spotfire, Denodo , MySQL, etc.

My favorite part of working at ASML is networking. Everyday I used to meet new people during lunch at ASML's Cafeteria. I got the opportunity to know about the undergoing projects of different teams and got a better insight on how ASML is making a better future for the whole world.

A huge shoutout to my manager Sashi Murthy for giving me this opportunity and all the exposure I needed to showcase and improve my data science skills. I am thankful to my mentor Gunnar G. for helping me throughout this internship journey. I am thankful to the entire Data Science and Analytics DUV lithography team for giving me the exposure to work on various Data Science projects. I would like to thank Bill Hefley, Ph.D., COP, CMBE and Fatima Raad for being the best in helping out students to succeed in their careers.
