My Summer 2023 Internship experience with Nationwide

During the summer, I had an amazing opportunity to intern at Nationwide 's headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. My role as a Digital Product Analyst Intern in the Enterprise Omnichannel Product Management team was focused on enhancing the overall customer and associate experience through various communication channels, including telephone, texting, and assisted platforms while incorporating cutting-edge omnichannel capabilities.

Working closely with the Digital Messaging team, I immersed myself in the world of exploratory data analysis, text analytics, sentiment analysis, and storytelling. Leveraging Python libraries such as nltk, TextBlob, and pandas, using Jupyter Notebook, I delved into customer engagement data to uncover valuable patterns and identify potential pain points within the texting channel. Additionally, I analyzed trends and KPIs across diverse email campaigns, enabling me to closely monitor product performance and provide insights.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my internship was the opportunity to collaborate with our partners and make compelling product recommendations based on the insights derived from data analysis.

Participating in the intern group project provided me with invaluable experience in various essential aspects of product management, including design thinking, competitive analysis, SWOT analysis, and marketing strategy.

Beyond professional growth, my time at Nationwide was also a journey of personal development. Engaging in weekly networking sessions with Product Managers, Product Owners, and Product Analysts broadened my horizons and allowed me to forge meaningful connections within the organization.

I am deeply grateful to Jesus Vergara for his unwavering mentorship and infectious passion for product management, which has left an indelible mark on my journey as an intern. I also want to thank Brian Himes and Kyle Priest for their constant support, guidance, and encouragement during my internship. Derek Koenig and Safia Hersi , you both have been amazing colleagues and friends - thank you! Additionally, I wish to express my gratitude to my program director, Professor Bill Hefley, Ph.D., COP, CMBE , and Program Manager Fatima Raad , for their support and guidance throughout my master’s program.

I will always cherish the memories and insights gained during my time at Nationwide, and I’m excited to apply the experiences gained here as I continue my journey toward becoming an impactful product professional.
