My summary of an extraordinary tool
I am dedicating my efforts towards ICT companies from Finland, supporting Finnish companies on finding the best matches and opportunities in the German market. The topics that I am working on are cybersecurity, critical communication, situational awareness, new space economy, port technology, digitalization of public services and AI. #aiforbusiness #digitaltrust #ai #newspaceeconomy #chatbots
And today, I want to talk about AI. ?
Chatbots have been around for decades, however, they were rather rudimentary and limited to certain interactions, and small-scale AI is everywhere nowadays. Most of us have probably fully integrated virtual assistants into daily lives; a set timer will remind you when the cake is ready, it informs you whether to bring an umbrella for a stroll or tell you a joke – what a hoot!
Last November, the company OpenAI LP released a currently free version of the chatbot ChatGPT (stands for Chat generative pre-trained transformer) and it feels like a new personal superpower.
Now, an extraordinary tool was put into our hands, and one must evaluate individually how to take personal advantage e.g., for content creation and information sourcing.
As a sidenote: my summary provides a rather narrow way (i.e., as content creator and content consumer) of looking at ChatGPT, and there is so much more potential and aspects to be spoken about regarding the GPT3 model.?
The tool can write and interpret codes, design games, create stories in various styles, summarize books, and provide information on all sorts of topics, write texts and e-mails, or even provide psychological conventional advice and so on. Additionally, the chat is very easy to access, currently free of charge, and the results are instant and original.
While business between the years is always slowing down, one afternoon I decided to play around with ChatGPT. I started asking the ChatGPT about the Finnish AI ecosystem, Finnish technological strengths, and concrete AI companies′ examples from Finland, research and education programs, and the level of adopting AI into Finnish public organisation, amongst other questions. I received answers and text modules instantly. The quality of answers I received from ChatGPT can be described as “very generic” to “super concrete and correct” and “absolutely false”.
What does that mean for content creator and information seekers?
ChatGPT can provide a large amount of output instantly and can do some tasks much faster than it is done by humans. I think it is fair to say that the chatbot can be considered as a helper, a smart co-worker, for instance for writing marketing pieces, e-mails, and many more tasks.

But in our rush for efficiency and productivity, the loss of autonomy is a valid concern. Unintentionally, we as users might turn it into a source of false information, which then gets multiplied through various channels. So, let's pause for a moment and don't just take the short route when producing content.
My outlook…
Many people believe that digitalization is always accompanied with loss of jobs, hence ChatGPT can become a threat. This could be a valid concern. However, I believe that this is not an immediate threat, and our way of working will also change. So will job profiles during one′s employment period. Furthermore, I strongly believe that self-invention of one's own purpose on the job is an indispensable process anyways.
…and luckily there is no way back. So, let′s co-exists peacefully.
To benefit from this extraordinary tool, we should invest our resources and learn how to use it, find the right answers to our questions. We need to challenge ourselves and the bots and keep calm.
Additionally, it would be helpful to exchange information and experiences with family, friends, colleagues, peers, and mentors. We will have to learn discussing openly our concerns and leverages that those kinds of tools are providing to us as users and as societies. Furthermore, governments need to pressure companies to take time for R&D and not race for domination in the market.
Personally, I am very excited of what is yet to come and looking forward to 2023.
