While many of us our stuck at homes during these trying times. We're lucky enough to still have our power grid and a myriad of ways to entertain ourselves through streaming services, podcasts, and audiobooks. That said, I thought I'd share a few suggestions for those who are in a "show-hole" and are looking to get deep into something new as a way to pass some time.
**I am assuming most have some sort of streaming ability so will list where you can find each show mentioned - operating under the assumption that Netflix is the most common**
- Stranger Things (Netflix): A sci-fi thriller based in the 80's. A group of friends needs to come together to defeat a common enemy.
- The Mandalorian (Disney+): An extension of the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian follows a bounty hunter through the galaxy far far away.
- Game Of Thrones (HBO): If you haven't heard of GOT, you've been living under a rock. Warning that this is very violent and has a lot of nudity.
- Ozark (Netflix): Season 3 coming at the end of March. Ozark stars Jason Bateman as he navigates a world of money-laundering for drug cartels while trying to keep his family together.
- Black Mirror (Netflix): Each episode is a stand alone so you don't need to watch in order. Black Mirror is a look into a dystopian future. Warning that this is often quite dark. Feel free to skip episode 1 of season 1.
- Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO): A look into the hilarious life of Larry David (writer/producer of Seinfeld). Don't watch if you're easily offended.
- Haunting of Hill House (Netflix): A horror series based on a haunted mansion and the family who moves in. Definitely a freaky show - don't watch alone!
- Jack Ryan (Amazon Prime): Based on a book series by Tom Clancy, John Krasinski plays an up-and-coming CIA agent in this political thriller.
- Schitts Creek (Netflix): Personally, I can't stand this show, but other people seem to love it. A comedy about a rich family who loses everything and is forced to move into a small town.
- Peaky Blinders (Netflix): Taking place in England shortly after WWI, the Peaky Blinders are a powerful gang with a fearless leader named Thomas Shelby.
- Hunters (Amazon Prime): After WWII, high ranking Nazi's moved to the United States. The Hunters are a group of Jews who take it upon themselves to bring justice into their own hands. Loosely based on true events.
- Bosch (Amazon Prime): Harry Bosch is a LAPD Homicide Detective who digs into a different crime each season.
- True Detective (HBO): Crime series with each season as a stand alone. Season 1 (featuring Woody Harrelson & Matthew McConaughey) and Season 3 (featuring Mahershala Ali & Stephen Dorff) are really good.
- The Outsider (HBO): Based on a Stephen King novel, The Outsider follows a veteran cop as he tries to make sense of a string of murders caused by a mysterious force.
- The Good Place (Netflix): Starring Kristen Bell. This is a light hearted comedy series about life in heaven and a few characters who realize they are there by mistake.
This list is in no specific order and, of course, I missed some great shows. If you have a suggestion that you feel is a "must watch," throw it in the comments below!
