My studio journey
J Sherman Studio
We push pixels and ink with purpose to create impactful strategy and design for clients who are done with the status quo
Hi friend—I’m Kate!
I’ve been around the Studio for three years this coming March, with a few zigs and zags along the way (one of which included creating a tiny human almost one year ago!). I’m so happy to be the first personal Studio email of the year—it’s a good way to kick off the year (and a whole lot of pressure…nbd!). I’m choosing to start this year with gratitude—for where I work and who I work with.?
Prior to joining the Studio, I was the marketing maven at a clean energy nonprofit for seven years—supporting, strategizing, writing, and designing amid a constant stream of?press releases, grant applications, and fundraising campaigns. While the work was important and impactful, I yearned to flex my creative muscles beyond one brand.
Fast forward to 2021: landing at the Studio felt like upgrading from doodling on a notepad to crafting a mural on city walls—more space, more colors, and a lot more room for artistic expression. The impact is still there, but now it's multiplied by an ever-expanding list of clients making waves in sustainability, social justice, healthcare equity, higher education, and more. One day, I'm turning a financial report into visual poetry; the next, I’m elbow-deep in a color palette, deciding if Sunset Coral or Midnight Sapphire truly captures a client’s ethos.
And the real magic? A talented and collaborative team by my side. We brainstorm, we banter, and somehow, in the midst of the creative chaos, design brilliance emerges.
So, here's to navigating the twists and turns of our careers, coloring outside the lines, and proving that even a marketing sidekick can evolve into a graphic design superhero, Pantone?cape optional.?
Thanks for being part of my Studio world!
