My story My 'Self'?

My story My 'Self'

SELF NARRATIVE

Our life is about our past, present and future.

OUR RECONSTRUCTED PAST - In our childhood phase we don’t make choices. Then we reach adolescence, and we start to make our initial choices( tentative and unsure). Then we get into colleges and get technical education.

We begin our professional careers after college. We get organizational roles and responsibilities and start learning work and life skills.

OUR PERCEIVED PRESENT – At the time of writing (or rewriting this narrative) we are of a certain age and experience. We are doing a professional role. We have acquired certain success. There must be certain failures & disappointments. Have there been any learnings? We have achieved certain professional goals.

OUR IMAGINED FUTURE – Somewhere in our lives, we start to gain a perspective about life’s larger purpose, career objectives. What are our dreams and desires? What are our short term professional goals? What could be the learning goals so that we are able to achieve our professional goals. Professional goals that are aligned to our long-term career objectives. The career objectives which are themselves in tune with the larger purpose of our life.

How do we write about the past , present & future?

My Past - Which are the things that have left an impression on us? They are usually the family, The city, The school & College.

·??????My Hometown (characteristic, culture)

·??????My School (Values, Identity, Ambitions, and dreams)

·??????My college (My passions and choices, Learnings & realizations, Future directions)

·??????My First Job (First transition, Work and people skill, Satisfaction, and future)

My Present - The present is about what all roles I am playing. Whether it is professional or personal. A relook at the past & Present in a compassionate manner will enable us to look at our future in a more brave manner.

·??????My current role & Responsibility, Size of the team, criticality to business

·??????My biggest professional success till date (What did I achieve, how I did it, who all others were involved, what recognition did I get)

·??????My strengths, weaknesses

My Future - The future provides us an opportunity to do what we want, to make more deliberate and bold choices.

·??????My life’s purpose (Responsibility, Dream, Contribution or Legacy)

·??????My career objective (I want t to become…I want to achieve….)

·??????My Professional Goal (3 – 5 years) I want to achieve…I want to become….)

·??????My Development or learning goals (Education or experience)

We can not control the events in life, but we can always control with what lens we look at them. We should look at the events of life with Curiosity, Courage and Compassion.

Sometimes the Pain is too bitter. Sure time heals and pain disappears and dissipates but the Narrative is just to fool the mind. The Reality of People's actions always stare in the Mirror. The Bitterness makes some better and some more bitter.

I do think we have all carried resentment in some way shape or form, because we have all been disappointed, our expectations were not met, but we have also learned carrying that weight slows us down. Thank you for sharing a chapter from your story Charanjit Lehal (He/Him) More power to stories. More power to you.

You certainly have God’s gift in putting your thoughts centric to an important topic so very lucidly, Charanjit Sir. Your posts are a treasure trove on aspects which do not strike a chord in a layman’s humdrum life - yet, each one resounds with knowledge and get’s one to contemplate on the perspectives you so brilliantly articulate. Thanks for them and look forward to many more. Jai Hind !
