My Story & Approach to Coaching

Have you ever felt lost in the pursuit of success?

Have you found yourself sacrificing your health, values, boundaries, for the sake of achievement?

Have you achieved great success but still not believed you or it is enough?

Do you sense you have untapped potential and strengths waiting to be discovered?

I have....

My Journey: Learning to Reconnect Success and Joy

Professional Background:

As an entrepreneur and former executive in the fast-paced world of executive search, I know first hand the exhilaration of success and the toll it can take on your mind, body, and life. I excelled in every role I undertook, but beneath the surface, I struggled with feelings of inadequacy that eventually led me to lose my sense of purpose.

Personal Experience with Trauma:

Somewhere along the way, I lost sight of the joy that once fuelled my passion. I neglected my well-being, working tirelessly to prove myself in a competitive environment. The relentless pursuit of success took its toll, manifesting in stress-induced autoimmune diseases, disconnection with my friends and family and a profound sense of exhaustion. It wasn't until I hit rock bottom that I realised I was cannibalising my own success.

Healing and Transformation:

Through introspection and self-discovery, I embarked on a journey of healing and transformation. I confronted past trauma and understood what part that played on who I became as a leader, learned to appreciate my strengths and talents, and essentially reconnected with the joy that had eluded me for so long.

Why Coaching?

Purpose Rediscovered:

That's why I became a coach. I want to help others like you rediscover the joy in their journey. You don't have to sacrifice joy for success. In fact, I believe that the business case for joy is a compelling one. ??

Studies have demonstrated that happy and engaged leaders are more productive and effective. Joyful leaders create positive work environments that foster creativity, innovation, and collaboration. Teams that experience joy together are better equipped to tackle challenges, adapt to change, and achieve breakthrough results. Joyful leaders also have higher staff retention rates and better brands. The case is rather compelling. ?

What Sets Me Apart

Professional Expertise:

What sets me apart as a coach? My extensive professional background coupled with my personal journey of growth and self development. I bring a wealth of experience from my years in executive leadership roles, where I gained insight into the complexities of organisational dynamics and personal development.

Training and Credentials:

I've dedicated myself to continuous learning and development. I've pursued formal training in executive coaching through the renowned institution Henley Business School and am committed to constant CPD to ensure I am top of my game. My academic pursuits are complemented by practical experience and a deep understanding of human behaviour.

I am a member of the ICF and am currently pursuing their Associate accreditation.

Embracing Neurodiversity:

As someone with ADHD and Dyslexia, I offer a unique perspective on coaching. My neurodiversity enhances my ability to sense the unsaid and intuitively understand your needs. I've learned to harness the strengths of my neurodiversity and channel that into transformative coaching experiences. I also get great joy from supporting other neurodiverse leaders harness their own superpowers.

Nature as a Co Facilitator

One of the cornerstones of my coaching practice is my profound connection to nature. Nature has always served as my sanctuary, offering solace and inspiration during life's most challenging and my playmate during life’s most joyful moments. I firmly believe in harnessing the wise power of nature and integrating it into my coaching sessions.

For me, nature isn't just a backdrop; it's a living, breathing entity that provides wisdom and challenge. Whether surrounded by trees in a dense forest or listening to birds sing the dawn chorus, nature has a remarkable ability to ground into the present and spark new thinking. I draw upon this inherent wisdom to create a space where clients can feel safe to explore their innermost thoughts and emotions.

Nature's beauty and diversity never fails to inspire me, and I bring this inspiration into my coaching practice. From the intricate patterns of a spider's web to the majestic sweep of a mountain vista, nature teaches us valuable lessons about resilience, adaptability, and interconnectedness. By immersing ourselves in the natural world, we can gain fresh perspectives and tap into our innate creativity.

Integration of Nature into Coaching Sessions

Forest Revival Retreats: I offer immersive onsite forest revival retreats. These retreats provide clients opportunity to reconnect with their purpose, refocus your goal, and tackle great challenges and develop the biggest ideas amidst the natural beauty of the forest.

Incorporating Nature's Wisdom Online: Even for clients unable to attend in-person retreats, I seamlessly integrate elements of nature into our coaching sessions. Whether it's encouraging clients to visualise themselves in a peaceful natural setting or guiding them through grounding exercises that connect them with the earth beneath their feet, nature remains a constant presence in our work together.

Nature has a transformative effect on us. By incorporating the wisdom of the natural world into my coaching practice, I empower clients to tap into their innate resilience, creativity, and sense of interconnectedness. Together, we embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth, guided by the boundless beauty and wisdom of nature.

Coaching Methodology

Eclectic Approach:

When you work with me, you can expect a unique, personal, and eclectic approach. My training enables me to draw from a huge wealth of knowledge, tools, and techniques, while my life experience enables me to craft unique interventions that cut through the noise and get to the heart of the work. I'll create a safe and nurturing space where you can explore your goals, challenges, and aspirations without judgment.

Exploration and Discovery:

We'll start by clarifying your goals and checking in on how joyful and transformative you want them to be. Together, we'll create a roadmap that aligns with your values and aspirations, breaking down big ideas and problems into manageable action steps.

Through deep exploration and introspection, we'll uncover the underlying beliefs, patterns, and obstacles that may be holding you back. I'll guide you through exercises and techniques designed to expand your self-awareness and unlock your true potential.

Mindfulness and Somatic Practices:

I incorporate mindfulness and somatic practices into our coaching sessions to help you connect with your body and cultivate present-moment awareness. By tapping into the wisdom of your body, you'll learn to navigate emotions, manage stress, and step into your unique strengths.

Cathartic Release for Transformation:

I believe in the power of cathartic release for transformation. Together, we'll explore techniques to release emotional blockages and rewrite limiting beliefs, allowing you to step into a new paradigm of possibility and empowerment.

Personalised:

I recognise that each individual is unique, with their own set of strengths, struggles, and aspirations. I'll tailor our coaching sessions to meet your specific needs, drawing from a diverse toolkit of coaching techniques and methodologies.

Empowerment, Growth & Joy:

My goal as a coach is to empower you to unlock your full potential and cultivate a sense of fulfilment and joy in your life. Together, we'll navigate the challenges, celebrate the successes, and embark on a journey of growth and self-discovery.

Beautiful Emma Thorp, your article resonates a lot and I'm ?? for more joy at work and in leadership. We spend too much time working to feel miserable at it, work should bring joy, fulfillment and be a place where people can flourish! And reconnecting with nature is definitely the right way to go, not just for our own mental and physical health, but also to find our path into a sustainable future. We got into this mess because we disconnected ourselves from nature to begin with. High time to reverse that and coaching is an excellent way to do that (not that I'm biased... ??)
