My experiences with Pain: a story I lived
2 major surgeries, 60+ days in the hospital, and 134 days on bed later I was finally able to take my first few steps, which at one point seemed far-fetched!
The worst happened, and even though no one deserves this to happen to them, but it did. From losing my sisters to fighting for my life to contemplating about my ability to walk due to compound fracture in the leg - the first day moving from hospital to hospital in agonising pain was horrible. The next week was full of uncertainties while I waited for my 1st surgery to happen - it involved trips to the labs in excruciating pain, a shattered emotional and mental state, and a complete loss of any confidence whatsoever.
The week somehow passed and the surgery happened, but only to realise that the condition was so weak and blood loss so much that one surgery wasn't enough, and 2nd surgery couldn't happen immediately. So after waiting for another terrible month of pain, immobility, uncertainty, and fear - the 2nd surgery successfully happened. And after all of this, after spending more than 2 months in a hospital room (I don't think anything can be as depressing as a hospital room), and then after almost four-and-a-half month, I was finally in a condition to stand-up. The pic above is the day doctors allowed me to stand.

A question I get a lot is, how did I muster the will to fight and not give up?
I was so lucky to have loving and caring family & friends, brilliant- just brilliant doctors, and wishes of many, so many people around me. They believed, donated blood, sent thoughtful gifts, spent time around me, and helped me feel normal and get some of my emotional and mental stability - and helped me forget the pain to some extent. Plain and simple - I could not have done this without them.
One of the major reason I was able to garner the will to fight was to hear stories of people who were in similar horrible situations and were living a normal life later. This is when I realised that so many people in my life had gone through this - and can walk, run, jump, and are leading a completely normal life. I am so grateful to all of them for opening up and sharing their experiences, fear, and the their journey to progress. This was the secret ingredient which inspired me to believe that I can too, and instilled in me the much needed willpower to fight.
You might be wondering, why am I sharing my story?
No one deserves to be in situations like this, and I wish no one is ever in a state where they have lost all the belief and will - but the sad truth is that many are. If you know someone who is in a similar tough situation - this story might help them gain the much-needed confidence, belief, and willpower (similar to how other's stories helped me).
And if, with your support, I am able to help anyone through my story - that'd be the best!
