My Stories, today: The judge Murder

With about 25 years of experience using Nemesysco's voice analysis LVA technology, I have accumulated many stories over these years, and this is one of them.

March 24, 2003, the day of the death of the Criminal Judge Alexandre Martins de Castro Filho, 32 years old, was a crime that shook the institutions of the state of Espírito Santo in Brazil and left the country perplexed. This week marks the 20th anniversary of his murder, R.I.P.

I was invited by one of the police chiefs who were investigating the case to help interview several witnesses. The case was extremely serious and had shaken the entire population of the state. If a judge was murdered, no one else was safe.

Upon arrival, I was informed of the investigations and that he was the second police chief responsible for clarifying what had actually happened. In short, who would be the mastermind since the murderers had been arrested and were in custody?

From their testimonies, I understood that they denied the existence of a mastermind and told a completely different story. They were tortured with the use of a plastic bag over their heads and yet they kept the same story.

An entire floor of the state courthouse was designated for my work. There were 21 people who had to be heard. I put together several questionnaires for the witnesses, those accused of participating, and those accused of the crime.

There were 3 days of interviews with Nemesysco's Emotion Analysis LVA Technology and once the work was completed, I returned to my city and began to analyze the recordings and reports. Once I finished, I explained to the chief of police who had asked me for support, that my conclusion was that there was no mastermind, it was a car theft crime that had ended tragically. He asked me to wait, that he would contact me the next day.

When he called me, he explained that he thought it convenient to redo all the hearings, but this time with the presence of the police officer trained by me to use Nemesysco's Voice Analysis LVA technology. This way, everything would be “official” and the end result would have the police logo, which I agreed with. Travel expenses were covered by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice.

We traveled and when we arrived, we understood that the general environment was not good. We were summoned to the presence of the judge in charge of the case and the chief of police. The two were emphatic in telling us that they were certain that our work would result in pointing out the person who ordered the crime.

There was no doubt in my mind that they weren't looking for justice, they were looking for a mastermind.

The crime happened early in the morning. Alexandre, who walked with an armed escort, had dismissed the men the night before, to go to the gym. Shortly after parking, he came across a young man who had got out from behind a motorcycle pointing a gun and asking for the car keys, coming towards him. He, who always carried a gun, pulled out his gun and started shooting. ?He thought they come to kill him. The young man and his partner ran behind a car parked on the street. Their weapons were locked, they never imagined such a reaction.

Soon a shootout began with Alexandre in the middle of the street and the young people. A shot hit him in the head, and he fell. The youths ran to him, fired another shot that hit his arm, picked up the gun lying on the ground, and fled on the motorcycle. The detail is that the bike needed to be pushed to pick it up!

In our hearings with Nemesysco's Emotion Analysis LVA Technology, I came across an important witness. It was an electrician who was working on the installation of a chandelier on the balcony of the first floor of an apartment that was located exactly over the gym, opposite where Alexandre parked his car. In short, he would have seen pretty much everything that happened.

According to him, they heard a young man with a gun shouting “you lose” a very common term for thieves that means “don't react”, I have a gun pointed at you. He watched as the judge was not intimidated, drew his gun, and started shooting. From that moment on, the “Truth” messages announced by technology during his speech, became “Not sure”. I immediately stopped him and asked him why he wasn't sure what he was saying anymore.

To my surprise, he says that there were actually two of them in the place, he and a co-worker. That when they heard the shots, they each ran to one side of the balcony, so that each one had a partial view of what was happening. That his colleague didn't want to appear in any way afraid of dying, but that he had told him everything he had seen. I immediately understood that in the last few minutes, he was telling what had been told by his colleague and therefore the uncertain messages from Nemesysco's Emotion Analysis Technology.

The prosecution's main witness was a drug dealer named Fátima. She said that she was walking down the street when she heard a drug dealer nicknamed “Cabe??o”, known to the police, tell two police officers that Judge Alexandre needed to die. Technology pointed out that she was not telling the truth and later we found out that her son had been killed by him because of debts with drug trafficking. In other words, she had the motive to make the accusation.

We interviewed everyone involved again and our conclusion remained the same, there was no crime of command, and there was a robbery that resulted in the death of Judge Alexandre for having reacted to the robbery. A fatality.

Here's the true story we were able to put together after listening to everyone involved. Thanks to Nemesysco's Emotion Analysis Technology which show us what was true, and what was not.

Judge Alexandre was well-known in court. He was considered a serious judge, strict and fair in his sentences. He fought corruption in society and in the judicial system and because of this, he had many enemies. He received an escort and was always armed due to threats to his life.

The young men who attacked Alexandre were called Odessi Martins, known as “Lubrig?o” and Giliarde Ferreira de Souza. They were part of a group of friends who worked and committed small thefts.

Giliarde was the son of a known thief who was serving a prison sentence. He had a girlfriend who worked at a gas station. She told him that all the money raised from sales over the weekend was kept in a drawer in the manager's desk until Monday when it was taken to the bank. They could steal this money.

He took the proposal to Odessi who immediately accepted the contract and thought of a plan. They were going to need guns and a motorcycle. Odessi had a gun and so did Giliarde. However, his gun was pawned to an acquaintance. He went to his house and explained that he needed the gun and that he would pay for the attachment with the result of the theft.

Odessi went to talk to a mutual friend of theirs who had a motorcycle. He worked as a pizza delivery boy. The friend explained that the motorcycle had no starter and would only start by pushing. That he needed it for his job. Odessi promised that they would do the “service” first thing in the morning and would bring the motorcycle back before he woke up to leave for his work.

Early on Monday, Odessi and Giliarde borrow the motorcycle and head to the gas station. However, when they arrive at the scene, they come across a police car at the scene. The police had decided to stop for a snack. Squeezed by time, they waited for half an hour and decided to abort the robbery. They could come back the following week.

When they were returning to return the motorcycle, they passed a pickup truck in traffic. Giliarde remembered an uncle (complicated family) who did business with pickup trucks of that type, that is, he sold stolen pickup trucks. In order not to return empty-handed, they agreed to steal the pickup truck they had seen and followed.

They realized that in the place where they were, they could quickly go around the block and come across the pickup truck in front. Odessi, who was on the back, would go down with his gun, force the driver to stop, and hand over the vehicle. So, they did.

As they turn right to turn around, they come across a pickup truck of the same model being parked. They immediately thought, let's take this one, and stopped. That's when Odessi shouted to Judge Alexandre, “you lose”.

This is the true story of events. The officer who had asked us for help was replaced because of our report and his belief that we were correct. The youths, including the owner of the motorcycle and the one who had accepted the pledge of the weapon, were all arrested and convicted. Other people were involved, a judge, the drug dealer, and the police who were supposedly talking to him were also arrested and almost all were convicted—most of them were innocent people. The judge in charge of the case rejected our work. He was a close friend of Alexandre.

A single person involved, whose name I will withhold, asked me to testify at his trial and was acquitted.

We have several options for use by insurance companies, finance companies, human resources, call centers, etc.
