It was April 2017 when I got the opportunity to travel to Kuala Lumpur to present my research paper at an international conference. It was a 3-day conference, so I was little conscious of meeting the new people and presenting my paper to them.
My reptilian brain was causing some severe cortisol. The trip actually came to me with too much confusion. As it was my first international trip, I didn’t have much idea about the process to follow at the airport and so on.
Back those day, Malaysia didn’t have “on-arrival” visa for Indians. But thankfully I received my visa few hours before I flew. So, I was running throughout. I only got to take a respite while I was on the flight.
Overall, my trip was phenomenal. It was my solo trip and I got so much to explore. For those 5 days, I was totally on the go. I was on my own. I ordered authentic Malaysian spicy food, visited local market for shopping, purchased gifts for family and friends.
Also had the opportunity to make a few friends at the conference. Visited the Petronas Towers at the central KL and explored the rest of the city by walking everywhere. A warm thanks to Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia for the wholesome experience.

I was not in the rush to wake up early in the morning to rush to the office. I was not following any clock. Only I followed clock to the conference and for my presentation. Otherwise, I was pretty much busy in my own world.
Weeks before I flew, I lost my pet fish named Fifi (Siamese fighter fish). I wish I could tell him how I enjoyed my trip after I was back. But I guess he fulfilled my wish for a safe and memorable trip before he passed away.
This trip was full of memories, exploration of culture and food. I fulfilled my dream of solo trip from my bucket-list.
