My session with a candidate.
Some days back, while training an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer for his next interview with Qatar Airways, I went through certain semiotics I must share here. Along with the resume grows contemporary to fit with the era, the candidate’s mind frames are still traditional.
Sir, how my answers should be ? Sir, how can I impress ? Are the questions of the past decades. Today’s environment is total different. Here are some keys for today’s candidates.
- Dress for the culture. One suit does not fit all interviews. I was taught to always wear a business suit, but today this could make you stand out like a jackal among the deer.
- Do your homework and find out more about the culture. You may find something more contemporary or trendy will help the employer to see you as a fit with other employees.
- And finally, be yourself. A suit and tie verses a more relaxed look such as a sport jacket and jeans can create a different first impression.
Friends, it's almost – not always -- a race to see who can justify their presence the most, and the fastest, and the most dramatically. But seriously, stop talking about how busy you are. Those are your choices. Your lacks. In stead, show your recruiters that you manage your time for everything you like.
Life is essentially structured around "in-groups" and "out-groups," regardless of where you live. There are too many people we come in contact with for our brains to process their contexts, so we need to organize them into wholes.
All wishes folks !
