My Self-Care Routine Includes Netflix and Chai. What's Yours?
by Vasundhara Sawhney, Senior Editor
We all want to take better care of ourselves — but do we always make the time for it?
Nope. ?
I often find myself racing against the clock. If the day had more than 24 hours, I bet I’d still want a few more. And the first thing that goes out the window when I’m pressed for time is self-care. I hereby declare myself guilty of not prioritizing self-care enough.
So, what’s the right way to do self-care? With the abundance of information available on the internet, we all have some preconceived notions about what it should look like. The truth is, only we can identify what our bodies and minds need to feel replenished and reenergized.

We need to define self-care on our own terms.
I've started to move towards this goal by using my weekends wisely. My routine includes a few cups of masala chai with unlimited K-drama time, a good hour of gardening, and building my own kind of superheroes with LEGO bricks.
That doesn’t mean I completely ignore myself during the weekdays. Through the pandemic, I realized that to take care of others I need to take care of myself first. Walking has been the simplest and most Covid-safe way to declutter my mind, calm my anxieties, and stay healthy. I now have a one-hour recurring block on my calendar, and I make sure not to hit the snooze button on that reminder.
Now it’s your turn. Pause, figure out what invigorates you, and do a little of it every day. Promise me, you’ll try?
