My secrets to starting the day

The rain woke me from sleep around 2:30 this morning. And it’s just as well as I have tossed and turned. By 3:30, I fell back to sleep.

Then at 6:30, the alarm goes off. Slippers on and down to the kitchen.

As I sit on the couch and drink my first cup of coffee, hoping that the eighth day of recovery from a double root canal is my last day of pain. As I take a deep breath, I can feel my teeth ache.

The aspirin was not working as I took the last sip of coffee. I am starting to get agitated.

I look at Outlook and see a full schedule ahead.

The second cup of coffee goes down, and then I go upstairs for twenty minutes of yoga.

Then affirmations, and finally a few minutes of meditation.

Deep breathing opened up blood vessels and calmed the nerves between savasana (final rest in yoga practice) and meditation. So, while the aspirin did not work, this did.

So, on with the day. My new client, Larry, was feeling down on himself for a 9:00 am session. And I asked him about his morning routine. Deer in headlights. He said, “what do you mean”?

I walked him through mine. I shared the details.

He smiles. He got it. Larry said, “nothing works until I do.” So I nodded and said “and”…,  “I need to be ready to help others.” BINGO

Mindset is one of the 3Ms to success. The others are motion and mastering the skill.

We can go through the motions with all the great skill, but without great mindest, we are simply going through the work without conviction or a sense of purpose.

If you have a great morning routine, stick with it.

If you need help with a morning routine that gets your mindset ready to serve others, I can help. It is a four-step process.

First, I help my clients design affirmations that fit into all parts of their life - family, themselves, faith, community, and business. Second, while I am not a fitness coach, I know enough to help get you started, as fitness has been one of my passions for many years. Third, we will also work through an exercise to produce a vision book to visually remind you of people, places, and ideas near and dear to you. Fourth, I will show you ways to clear your mind to begin meditating.

Please reply and add “mindset” to the body. I will follow up, and we will find time to meet.
