My Saturday Morning Post

I don't know about you, but the whiplash of seasons we're experiencing from February has my circadian rhythm all messed up. Instead of publishing this late Friday evening when I wrote it, I decided to post it on Saturday Morning so it's fresh in your inboxes and at the top of your feeds.

Aside from finishing off my Use Cases series this month as part of my Thought Leadership series, juggling the start of spring sports season, and tackling a whole new set of work projects that demand some deep thinking, I feel like I’m playing catch-up in a dozen different ways. If you’re in the same boat—know you’re not alone.

But here’s the thing: the hiring market is warming up, and if you’re looking, now is the time to start building your brand for your next role. My friend Moby Hayat recently shared insights from a conference full of marketers, emphasizing that a LinkedIn strategy isn’t optional anymore.

As he put it: “People buy from people. Post more on LinkedIn.”

And the lesson he has reminded me:

Just keep posting helpful stuff. Just keep posting helpful stuff. Just keep posting helpful stuff. And don’t stop.

So, with that in mind, here’s what’s been on my radar this week…

This is what has been on my radar this week:

Ideas to Keep You Ahead

Starbucks’ Real Problem? Hospitality, Not Operations

My friend Pete Vomocil ?? recently shared a story about when he visited Starbucks to order oatmeal and a pink drink. Simple. But the label? Pe5e—more WiFi password than personal touch.

That sums up his issue with Starbucks: they’re fixing experience problems with operational solutions.

? Cutting menu items?

? Reworking mobile pickup?

? Laying off employees?

None of this solves the real issue—inconsistency and lost hospitality.

Starbucks thrived on community, the “third place” vibe. Now? It’s a rushed mobile pickup station.

Some stores are great. Others feel like an understaffed DMV. The brand is fragmented.

The fix? Unreasonable Hospitality.

Read more from Pete's LinkedIn to see where the story ends.

What have we learned?

If there’s one takeaway from this week, it’s that opportunities are moving, and staying visible matters. Whether that means refining your positioning, sharpening your approach to product launches, or simply engaging in more conversations, taking action now will set you up for the right move later.

The market rewards proactive behavior. So post, connect, apply, and stay ahead of the shift.

Until next time! ??

Great read Michael! And nice comment about starbucks feeling like a "rushed mobile pickup station". I've got a Dutch Bros and a Starbucks next to the house, and I just go to Dutch Bros now because of the customer experience (even if it's just pickup).
