My Russian Language Test Results
Dear friends. I recently took two online placement practice tests for Russian reading comprehension. I wanted to see what level I am at. The first test was a short test given by the Eton Institute located in Dubai, UAE. This test had 40 multiple-choice questions. I received a B2.2 level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This is equivalent to a 2+ on the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) used in the United States. I was pleased with this score!
The second test was provided by ESL, a European Study Abroad Agency in Switzerland. This online test had 52 multiple-choice questions. It was harder than Eton's test. I again received a B2 CEFR level. So, I was pleased with these results as well.
Now, my strategy to mastering Russian continues. I continue to review Russian grammar on a daily basis. In addition, I need to improve my vocabulary. So, I am making a media list. This list consists of common words, nouns and verbs, found in the media. Such words will be useful when I want to read a Russian newspaper, watch Russian news, or read a Russian magazine.
My goal is now to reach the C1 CEFR level which is the "Advanced" level. I will take the ACTFL Russian reading proficiency test administered by Language Testing International within the first two months of 2024.
Happy language learning and Happy New Year!
