“I get to solve challenging problems in an environment characterized by true collaboration and curiosity”

Q&A with Kristoffer B?ng, Head of Digital Charging Solutions at Scania.

What I do at Scania ...

I work as Engineering Manager for Digital Charging Solutions.?Right now, I am?building a great team that?develop solutions around?public charging?and?depot charging for?battery electric trucks and?buses.?We build software in the cloud to?provide our customers with a smooth charging experience.?My job is to build the development team, guide the team with purpose and direction, and support the team in all great work they do.

The best part of my workday is ...

During the daily standup. It is a fantastic start in the morning. I am reminded that I work with great people on something that makes a big difference, providing a smooth charging experience for eTrucks and eBuses. With today’s urgent need to reduce our society’s carbon footprint, it is really motivating to be working hard to make electrification easier. In my team we are turning charging of electric vehicles into something smooth and simple. We have put tech and business in the very same team, a fantastic recipe for great fun at work and products that our customers love.?In our team we have a strong culture based on an agile and experiment-driven way of working. We are a diverse team in terms of background and skills. Together we are enabling the shift to electrified heavy transport by making charging easy.

I first joined Scania on a summer internship in 2008. I immediately fell in love with the culture at the company characterized by true collaboration and respect for the individual.

Why I work at Scania …

Because I get to solve challenging problems in a great environment characterized by true collaboration and curiosity. I have had several different roles during my years at the company and they have all rewarded me with lots of learnings and good friends.

I first joined Scania on a summer internship in 2008. I immediately fell in love with the culture at the company. I have always appreciated the fact that we are very close to our customers and how our products and services fit in their business.

My team in three words.

True team spirit!

Last time I gave a colleague a compliment was ...

Just recently in a meeting on next year’s budget. It made me proud to see how my colleague had approached the challenge of forecasting our costs.

The most fun I have ever had at work ...

Was when I got the opportunity to work for Scania in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Learning a new language, making new friends, and solving interesting problems at work was amazing. Best workday during that year was when I got my Brazilian driver’s license and I drove a 64-ton truck on a 1,000 km roadtrip from Sao Paulo to a proving ground in Rio Grande do Sul, southern part of Brazil. Absolutely amazing to watch how the landscape change throughout the country while driving a Scania. I look forward to doing that road trip again with an eTruck.

?When I am not working ...

I enjoy restoring my old wooden boat. It is a lifelong project maintaining the old boat and it is truly rewarding when going sailing with my family in the summer.
