My Reset Is Done. Now What?

My Reset Is Done. Now What?

For the past month my content on LinkedIn has involved zero strategy. I had one goal — do the freelancer reset challenge and journal the process. Honestly, it turned out to be a palate cleanser for me as a writer and creator. Not having to think about a strategy for once and simply writing what I felt was a liberating.

I'm a content/copy writer by profession which means I'm always writing articles for clients. It's my job. Inbound content marketing is also my primary lead generation source for my freelancing services which means, I spend most of my life writing marketing content.

Don't get me wrong, I love it! It's the adventure I choose. However, I also enjoy this raw, less structured type of writing where I'm not bound by any particular criteria.

As I forge a new path, though, some things will have to change.

Diversifying My Content Strategy

I've spent the last year focusing on LinkedIn with the goal of getting to 10k followers on one platform before branching out. As of today, I'm 725 subscribers away from that milestone which means I'm ready to start growing my presence on other platforms.

I know, I know I could've been on multiple platforms all along, but hey you do your thing, I'll do mine.

This isn't just about reaching more people, though; it's about diversifying my content strategy and skillset as a creator as well. For example, I want to teach in different formats, experiment with more creative ideas, and try new strategies that will help me become a better storyteller and help YOU reach your goals.

The obvious next step is building my website traffic with SEO articles. I'm excited to apply tried-and-true SEO strategies to my website, and I'm also looking to tackle some of the more complex SEO topics that will help me triple my website traffic.

It's also the easiest next step because I have 89 articles, 100s of carousel posts, and five workshops that I can repurpose into laser focused SEO articles.

Something else I've been neglecting is email marketing. My mailing list subscriptions doubled this year, without much effort. But, I'd like to get into email marketing in a bigger way.

I've already started sending weekly blog updates, and having conversations with my email subscribers on where they need help most. I believe in balancing best practices and checklists with a reader-centric approach.

I'm also looking into creating a content marketing plan that will help grow my mailing list and provide more value to the readers. I want to make sure that, when people arrive at my website, they receive the best experience possible but also leave with something of value - whether it's a guide, a workshop, free course, or an ebook that helps them on their journey.

Finally, there's (dare I say it?) video podcasting. Why? Most of my life is spent writing, having another creative outlet would do me some good. Besides, my curls are way too poppin' to leave them in the shadows! ??

I'm excited to see what's around the corner. And I'm certain that with a little research, connection-building, and creative problem-solving, I can take my writing business to the next level. Here we go!

Tell me, what would you like to see on my YouTube channel when I start one?

A- Tutorials,

B- Interviews,

C- Mini webinars,

D- Week-in-my-life vlogs, or

E- Experiment, I've got your back.

Let me know in the comments below! ??

Thanks for reading. Wishing you all the best on your journey! ??

Love your frankness, following your freelance journey has become a hobby of mine ;) I'm a Creative by profession (Designer/Art/Creative Director) and your journey seems to be very similar to mine. I personally think you need to show off your curls more and alternate - I'd be most interested in B, C and D

Hmm, I think C and E. Also just to say, I don't engage back much in your content, but I really enjoy it - some inspiration and encouragement, and a feeling of "I'm not alone" as I pursue my own reset.
