My Relationship With AI

My relationship with current AI tools is not a complicated one.

Even though I have a background in Tech, I do not typically experience AI through advanced algorithms, but in simple day-to-day interactions with commonly available AI tools.

By conversing with AI like one would converse with a friend, I have been trying out the potential sitting at our fingertips. Here are some simple ways I have used AI's capabilities in my day-to-day life:?

  1. I have used AI to review project documents and draft useful items like communication briefs, training guides, and checklists to support project work.
  2. Trialing AI to create newsletter content while training it on using optimal tone, simplicity and engagement techniques - iterating over multiple editions to see what sounded good.
  3. I evaluated AI's knowledge by having it summarize broad concepts and explain specifics back to me.
  4. I gave AI different real-life scenarios and asked for recommendations on which courses of actions to take in different delicate situations.??
  5. As an “extra brain” to help me remember and replay certain delays that I needed to refer to in the future

I asked the AI some questions, invited creative suggestions, had it summarize concepts, and even drafted written content. Some exchanges were more fruitful than others, but over time AI has demonstrated helpfulness, humor, and even wisdom. The key for me was recognizing AI's limitations and not overestimating its capabilities.

Yet despite these limitations the AI tools I have used could rapidly help prototype ideas, spin endless variations on concepts, and never tire of my iterative questions.

And I am one hell of an inquisitive person!

The ascendance of artificial intelligence is reshaping the world quickly. As emphasized in Mo Gawdat 's acclaimed book "Scary Smart", AI will soon demonstrate intelligence a billion times greater than our own. Yet as overwhelming as this seems, we collectively can guide this force for good.

AI is designed, coded, and powered by human minds. Our choices determine its trajectory.

What do you use AI for Ben Chege ?

I have used AI to understand code better. Sometimes, we write code because we know that's how it should be without understanding the logic.
