My Reflections and New Journeys - 2018

As we approach the last 2 weeks to the close of 2017, I wanted to take a few mins to reflect on my journey through this year:

As I left my role @ Thomson Reuters as CTO for their Tax & Accounting Government business from driving a holistic transformation to exploring my own journey on digital transformations to help derive sustainable value, a number of thoughts were going through my mind:

• what does sustainable value mean?
• How relevant are what organizations do today day-in and day-out in realizing it?
• Are we too busy to recognize the continuous need for differentiating value and make a lasting impact in our lives and the firm ?
• What does it cost to make a true shift in our thoughts and actions? 

The process was months of intense effort soul searching, going through numerous books and countless articles on thought leadership, purpose, pivot, strategy, digitization, technology shifts, disruption and true holistic transformation of enterprises delivering sustainable value

Needless to say it has never been more gratifying than this period in my 20 years of professional life - like they say "nothing can stop that force within you when the time has come”

Starting my venture “Digital Taas (Digital Transformation-as-a-Service)” and joining forces with like-minded transformation partners to help connect and educate leadership on what digital transformation truly means and how we go about driving that with our proven and experience driven methodologies starting with organization purpose -> vision -> market relevance -> customer journeys -> solutions-> right technology -> delivering and measuring towards outcomes - > Pivot strategy as necessary -> circling back to reaffirmation of purpose!

Like many startup ventures we had our share of concerns, disbeliefs, finding the right partnerships, avoiding non-value engagements misaligned with our purpose but we stayed patient, resilient and grounded in finding that right value which resulted in some interesting pursuits and engagements notably with a global telecom giant, looking for a double digit increase in their digital sales we embarked on a multi-quadrant omni-channel strategy with a completely decoupled, resilient, HA and secure Open API based micro-services architecture over a multi-node cluster. The customer experience across all channels interacting with this architecture with instant, reliable responses was simply put "liberating"!

We are now excited about starting 2018 with a great opportunity to explore the health care sector with a major local health insurance looking to redefine their capabilities in certifying healthcare providers and their facilities for a clean, safe, secure and medically capable & compliant environments reliably and consistently in real-time to deliver on their promise for a superior medical care to residents.

We couldn't have been more delighted as this opportunity directly relates to one of our core values - " Serving communities". The communities which are the lifeline of our society that support and bring us together.

There are few other potential opportunities we are actively exploring in real estate management, employee wellness, blockchain based smart contracts and AI based conversational chatbot platforms.

I will communicate more on this as we embark and deliver on these exciting journeys!

Sincere thanks to each and every one of you who have been part of this journey educating me, challenging my beliefs/thoughts, helping me think differently at every stage to pivot as necessary and directly/indirectly contributing to an expedited relevant learning process.

Special thanks to my wife and kids who had to put up with my new startup ideas, hours, crazy schedule or lack thereof!, missed appointments, etc so needless to say my "hit refresh" journey has caused some disruption to our personal life for a better future! ;)

Looking into the Future

Digital TaaS is now gaining traction and maturity on driving awareness (DT leadership meetups), methodology (Wheel of Fortune (WOF) models) and delivery (Sustainable value driven engagements) and expect strong growth into 2018 and beyond.

As we continue to nurture it with engagements in the pipeline, I now have the opportunity to start exploring some full-time leadership roles at committed startups, SMBs and enterprises (preferably healthcare but open to other verticals) in driving and delivering on their digital transformation journey in one of the following stages:

• Have an understanding and concerned about disruption in the market place but haven’t started (Skeptical)
• Started but have not seen expected outcomes (Missed Opportunities)
• Gone through one or more rounds of transformation but need/want to take it to the next level (Lead)
