Following on from my post a couple of weeks ago about my recommended daily top ten LinkedIn activities, this is the top 10 (additional) weekly activities I recommend to help you utilise LinkedIn more effectively. Anything highlighted is a link to another post or article I've written with more information.
- Endorse (or better, recommend) someone in your network.? Spontaneous recommendations are normally very well received!? It shows you as someone who is supportive to others too.
- Search for company pages that are your target customers or employers, follow them.? Use the search bar e.g “pharmaceutical” + “London” click return, then click on companies for a list of matches
- Check your sign in and security and if you are logged in anywhere else sign out of those unauthorised places.
- Go to the my network page and find new group or page suggestions to join or follow.
- Actively seek out content from your first degree connections - once you've tried this search, you'll be amazed at how much stuff you don't see in your normal feed.
- Check the service provider search if that’s relevant to you, e.g if you type law in the search box on the home page and choose the filter of service you will see providers who match that. This can give you new people to connect to or ideas on how to set up your own service provider page.
- Pick a couple of connections you know well.? Take a look at their connections - are there people there you could connect to, or would like to be introduced to?
- Do something active for your current employer page (if relevant), like, comment, share, engage with purpose!
- Engage with content written by someone outside of your network. Go to the search bar on the home page, type in the word or phrase you're interested in, e.g. "marathon running", hit return, click on posts, click on sort by and choose latest. Scroll through and add a few likes and comments. You will likely then get new people viewing your profile page and possibly some new connections.
- If you are interested in giving it a try, then write a post, create a poll or write an article. You could get some inspiration from an article you've read, it could be something a bit more personal about you or it could be some work related news. Whatever the topic, stay around to answer any comments you might get! Most people never create content, so if this doesn't appeal to you then don't worry. I genuinely think engaging on other people's content is better for most people's visibility anyway!
Coming soon will be my recommended top 10 monthly things to do on LinkedIn.
I hope this has been helpful!
