MY REALITY OF REJECTION...

REDIRECTING TO SERVE A BIGGER PURPOSE.
I want to share something with you that I have only spoken about briefly on the Kelly Ann Cares Podcast. A couple of months ago I made the decision to pitch myself to a variety of networks hiring for several positions within their podcasting departments. Amazon, iHeartRadio, Netflix, Hello Sunshine, Dear Media, and Spotify, just to name a few. Yes! I put together a resume for the first time in over a decade. Who made up that one-page rule? That was a very difficult task!
I wanted to bring my expertise of writing, recording, hosting, monetizing, producing, and developing podcasts to a network. I wanted to be able to create on a larger scale. Be a part of a team. Start more projects from the ground up, just as I have done with my own career and business. I have taught myself everything I know, pride myself on the work and content I create, provide the absolute best service to my clients, and I am the queen of being able to find a solution for any problem sent my way.
I mean, I represented myself in six medical malpractice cases and closed them all in 18 months, in the middle of the pandemic.
Now here is what has happened over these past few months. I was rejected over 100 times. Not one network gave me two minutes of their time to have a conversation. Get to know me. Nothing!
Is it a conflict because I have my own show? Is it wrong of me wanting to pivot my business and bring my knowledge to a network so that I can continue to do what I love on more shows? I do not know these answers. All I know is that this process was an extremely humbling and showed me that maybe this was not part of my journey, and that manifesting doesn’t always work out. I’ll be sharing more on that on my next show (episode 324).
I am the queen of networking and love to create genuine relationships on and offline. That is my recipe to success and how I got to where I am today. If you ask any of my clients or friends, they will also fill you in on my favorite past time of following up. That is how I have closed the biggest deals of my career.
If you own a successful brand and decide to pivot back to a corporate setting, how does it look? I had no idea and wanted to try. All you need to do is try. In my case it looks like I have everything I need to continue to do more on my own terms. Maybe this is what I had to go through to light a whole new creative fire under my *ss. Listen, burnout is a real thing…
I coached so many clients throughout the pandemic. I helped bring their businesses online. I developed podcasts for them that would give them a global audience that they never would have had access to without a platform. I helped them create healthier recipes and spend more time in the kitchen. Just enjoy a little time away from what was happening in the world. Escape for a minute to bring a little bit more happiness into their day.
As I say in my book, everything happens for a reason. I have yet to figure this one out. However, what I have done is create more programs to help more small business owners and entrepreneurs increase revenue in their business while generating more passive income, growing an audience, and most importantly having fun.
I just did an episode (321) all about entrepreneurship and how it is not for everyone. However, I know this is for me. Is it ok to try to something new? Absolutely! We only have one life so let’s just live it. Try the things that scare us the most. Be different and enjoy everything that comes with it.
Last month my brain was fried from sending the same information to have rejection responses show up in my inbox the next day. So, I took a break from the internet and started driving for Uber, as I then had serious writer’s block and unable to create anything worth reading and listening to. Honestly, the best decision I could have made for my mental health. I have met some of the most inspiring people who have shared the most incredible stories with me. This is the reason why I started my podcasting journey in 2017. To help others. This is my passion. I got a second chance at life to serve a bigger purpose.
A major network just laid off hundreds of employees this week. What if I was there and that was me? Reading thousands of comments on my LinkedIn yesterday made me realize how unbelievably lucky I truly am. I have my health and get to do what I love every day. Not everyone can say that. And I can tell you one thing for sure, I worked my *ss off to get me in the position I am in to have time and freedom in my life.
I guess the moral of this story is rejection is ok. It humbles you, will teach you lessons, and then show you a new path that you were destined to be on. At least, in my opinion.
I am extremely grateful for everyone that I have worked with in the past as well as the clients I am working with now. Most of them for years. I am obsessed with helping you level up. That could be with your business or even in your personal life. Everything I wrote in my book I practice myself. I just want to be able to continue to do what I love. Create more content, programs, and recipes (of course) that need to exist. And running my own business allows me to do that.
I wanted to share this with you today because I am an open book and want you to know that this is my current situation and that there is always room for more and new ways to pivot.
I have just put the finishing touches of my summer upgrades on my Business, LinkedIn, and Podcasting Programs. I wanted to add more value to each of them. More 1:1 time with me.
I will be in my new home, office, and kitchen in a couple of weeks. That is when I can finally ramp up the new projects, I have been working on for you. I will be sharing more on that on Monday’s show (episode 324).
Thanks for reading today’s newsletter until the end. It means so much to me. If you are part of a podcast network, I would love to continue this conversation. An open dialogue I think is needed. Especially as this industry continues to grow at a rapid pace.
Lastly, I have a brand-new episode of the Kelly Ann Cares Podcast that went out on Monday with my good friend Sabriya Charles. We are talking about business, mental health, retreats, faith, purpose, her new book, and so much more. You can listen to the latest podcast episodes below.
As for my upgraded programs (listed below) I would love to offer you 20% off this week. Please message me so that we can get on a call so that I am able to help you in the best way possible.
